Me again, but didn't Susie accept the postition of Treasurer or something when we first started talking about this and Eric said he would handle the pollen bank. If I'm wrong.....just ignore this.
our global association
Yes, maybe we are running too fast. My mínd is also a little stock with the fact, that we choose Liz and Jeanne as heads of the Canadian dept., Cala as tresurer, Eric as pollen banker and Arlene, I think we choosed you too. We have to look at these facts, before we go further. How is that?
Tonny, i said all i was good for was counting seeds! if you guys need a gopher or grunt, would be happy to help, i'm not diplomatic enough to be a real officer. if we want more than one seed bank, i could do one here. trust me, i don't plan on growing them all! i am sure i'll try to fill your heads with junk, lol. last year i wondered about good seeds. my goodness this year they are rolling in, just you and cala are gonna have enough for everyone in the world to have 5-10 of their own!
Arlene, yes that`s right, but I thought we selected you too: I am no diplomat my self. I think that I am too much rebel. *LOL*
Can we agree, that Liz and Jeanne run BHGA in Canada andthat the US is Cala as treasurer, Eric on drumms and Arlene on saxophone? *JK* Eric as pollen banker and Arlene if she want as seed banker? It was a decisions we made in the spring and nothing good come out of overriding it.
If we cut down to one pollen- and one seed bank I suggest we place it in the US to make it easier to mail out to other Countries.
LMK. Also all kind of protests are welcome. Dealing with it will only make us stronger as a team.
I agree.
Tonny, we should have one or two persons for " Seedbanking " in Europe and also for Pollen. We have some members in Europe, I see difficults in posting.....
For examble: When I have Pollen or Seeds, I will send ( mail ) some to the Canadien and Us "Seedbank" and some to the european "Seedbank".
Going this way we have not to mail twice times from Amerika to Europe and back.
Greetings Ludger
I think we have most of the people assigned (but not all) and that was done many months ago. I don't know if we really need to vote on anything or not. I am very pleased to have the people that were already discussed regarding filling the positions mentioned above. I would feel privileged to assist anyone, in any position, however I can.
Whatever you all decide sounds great to me........ I will happily go with your flow!!!
I can't be the pollen banker. I'm leaving for for the Army in just a few short days. So sorry to disappoint you all. Kyle is by far the best hybridizer in the USA and I sure hope everyone gives him an ear full as he deserves the praise and we need him here.
Eric, you can't imagine how much I will miss you.
In which country are you going?
Greetings Ludger
What about Monika for something??? Would she have time?
ERIC!!!!!!!!!!!! I am crying, you are such a sweetheart and now you are off to be an american hero? i owe you money, send me new addy or i'll mail check to your old address..... and please keep in touch!!!!!!!!!
Eric !
please don´t missunderstand my question, I wondered may be next to Europe...
GL
Eric, do you think the base will let you decorate with brugs? :-) Good luck in this new venture. You're in the army now. I'm sure you will make us all proud.
Eric, maybe so, but i love your crosses. and you have been so open and helpful, and i am gonna miss you so much! i want a pic in uniform!!!!!!!!!!!
as big sisters, we deserve that right arlene? Eric, I couldn't be sadder if my real baby brother was moving away.
Eric - thank you for all you've contributed to us here at DG - you will truly be missed. You should someday write a book with your findings when you have time. You will be quite busy for awhile, but maybe you will have access to a puter now & then and can drop in to say hello!
Azalea
Eric, you will never, ever know how much I learned from you. It was a pleasure knowing you.
I will be forever in your debt.
Liz
Sorry, I did a bad yob, I didnt thought about...
Eric, GOOD LUCK !
L
Arlene, I may still have some of my old Army photo's laying around so that may be easy enough. Ludger, as for where exactly I will be, theres no telling. I do know that I can hop a plane though to any country in the world for around 20 dollars so I was thinking that I might just have to see some brugs overseas. I won't be able to come visit here very often or do much of anything though for the first year at least. That much I do know. I'll miss all of you guys while I am away though. I'm just glad to have met so many people interested in hybridizing Brugmansia. If I could only have two brugs on base and I will be able to have one or two...they would most likely be Ek3 and Rothkirch. Of course I would have to make seedpods then though and we all understand how that works out.
Eric,
my Rotkirchcutting is waiting for you.
Please tell me when you are bac in your garden.
L
Ludger, i think you are right, at least one bank each in canada, us and germany/europe. i really think more than one in each location is better.
Thanks Arlene!
Eric, You have no idea how much we will all miss you. You have taught us so much and we will never forget. I wish you all the luck in the world and for you to stay safe. Will NOT say goodbye. See you later. ((((Eric))))
Ludger,
You are quite right. Seedbanks/pollen banks in more than one area is going to be needed. Just think if one persons freezer goes out or the power goes out as well. The entire collection could be lost if were talking about pollen. Of course one can get dry ice and fill a freezer with it for a time, but if one is away on vacation then what is one to do. I'd definitly have to agree with Ludger. Thanks for the offer as well Ludger, but to be honest it is probably better if you could talk Tig out of a cutting of Ek3 and make the cross for me as getting seeds into the country is much easier than cuttings. Of course, if you had Rothkirch pollen this is just as good if not better than having ones own Rothkirch...perhaps you could just do me a favor and simply send Tig some Rothkirch pollen? I think that would be easiest as Tig already has EK3 blooming and could set seeds right away. I would have to wait for them both to grow up. Of course, I would never turn down Rothkirch pollen as its too easy to freeze and save for later. Okay, I must sign off for now...much to do.
Eric you will be missed and all are prayers will be with you and for your safe return home. I have learned so much from your ramblings as you have called them. Thanks for both here at Dave's and your service to our country.
Eric is OK, I will do.
Please take very very care to YOU !!!
Talk to you soon
Ludger
Hi all,
Eric,
This is a turning point as I understand that you are leaving for the Army. Is it for training or is it more serious? You mention old army photos, so I guess its more than just a training seminar. Whatever it is just in case I want to thank you for everything that you have learned me and thanks for the vision of the impossible cross. :)
Remember Eric, the Army has computers with online connections.Check in here whenever you can.
Eric, we will miss you terribly!! Take care and you'd better come on here and post sometimes.
Eric
I'm sorry to see you are leaving. I'm hoping for the sake of yourself and your family that it is not a post with active action on a war front. please visit the forum when you can. You will be sadly missed. best of luck to you and your family and your new post.
I think there should be 2 seed/pollen banks in each of Canada, U.S. and Germany/Europe. I don't know how many people are in the United Kingdom but perhaps there should be one seed bank there.
Kyle would be an excellent suggestion and I hope Monika will consider a position as welljust my thoughts on the subject.

kell, what a nice idea!
Eric,ya gotta get a laptop! My son e-mails me from his ,he's stationed in Bosnia
I will shortly return to BHGA.
Since we will come to work with Brugmansia
breeding and also come to share a few breeders
secrets I think, that we have to have several levels
of membership and several levels of distributed according to member ship levels.
Currently I am trying to set up a loggin page on the BHGA site, so that only members can log in. Its written in ASP-programming language and I don`t understand a bit so far, but if I can get it to work we can start to control the knowledge and who have access to it.
Right now I am not thinking democratic. *LOL* In a democratic association all members can point on a candidate to run for top jobs. And this is good. However, I don`t think, that any of us want the wrong people to take control and turn BHGA into something, that none of us like. :) To avoid that I suggest, that we part memberships in high level members (experienced hybridizers), medium level (would-be hybridizers) and low level members (Everyone interested in Brugmansia and at the same time supporting our ideas). We can call them level 1., level 2. and level 3.
level 1. members can ...
... run for top jobs
... access the entire BHGA site both level 1., level 2. and level 3.
... choose to lift a member to a new level or not
level 2. members can ...
... vote for a level 1. member running for a top job
... access knowledge in level 2. and level 1., but have no access to level 3. pages.
Level 3. members can ...
... not vote
... access knowledge in level 3., but can not access level 2. and level 1.
Only this way will we be able to protect us against people with wrong ideas. :)
I like both comments and suggestions.
oh yes, btw. Only top level members can choose to dismiss a member from level 2. and level 3. for not working along BHGA`s main idea and it will take at least four top members to agree on such decision. However, if a top level present a problem it should be taken up to discussion on top level only and it takes at least 2/3 of the entire international top level members to agree, before another top member can be dismissed and there has to be very solid reasons.
