Maxine (from Wisconson), a member of DG has been here visiting us since Thursday night and she and her DH left this morning. We went to nurseries, toured a friend's garden, looked at murals in a nearby town, went to dinner, talked plants, traded plants, talked life and farming, drove around all over the area, answered each others questions and just otherwise bonded. She is a very VERY nice lady and her DH is a sweetie also. They camped in my front yard in their motorhome and we had a blast. :) Now back to the realities of life :( Lani
Maxine has been here!
u're so lucky to meet Maxine in person Lani :). we've been exchanging emails for a long time. she's been a dear friend, although i have not met her in person. she's such a sweet lady! i hope u took pix. pls post if u got one. purdy pls.
I only have a disposable camera but when I get the pictures back I will post. I got some butternut trees and nuts from her and also some iris plants. She took a lot of new plants home. We went to several nurseries and she loaded her kitchen table with plants. Fun was had here! She is the second DG person I have met in person. I also met MaryE last year. She is only an hour and a half from me so I have seen her a couple of times. I consider her my friend also. Hope you get to meet Maxine in the near distant future.
i hope so Lana. as i understand Maxine loves to travel. next time she comes to California, i hope she does stop by. looking forward for ur pix. thanks!
She will come I am sure as long as her DH continues to drive. They have a motorhome and tow their car since they don't like to drive the motorhome in city traffic. I don't blame them for that!
am sure Maxine will come this way for her quest for lilium :)! LOL! i live far away from civilization. the closest city to me is 60 miles away. i am in the upper desert of southern Calif. maybe someday i get to meet her, one way or the other. i have a friend that lives in Newport, RI. maybe i will take the offer to visit. when i do, coming back i may try to take the route bach passing thru Wisconsin. hopefully !
That would be fun for you. Good luck in planning your travels. I hope it can happen for you. Soon. Sadly we only found one lily that she bought. Did find a few other plants that she couldn't live without.
i hope so too :)! that sounds like Maxine all right LOL! fortunately, i am able to find liliums for her here in California. each spring there is a huge variety available here. that is how we met in the 1st place, both our passion for liliums.
