Need a math wizzard

I have changed meds for my dog who has degeneritave(SP?) joint disease. He is on a horse med cut down to his size...I'm sure that when I bought it the wonderful lady at the feed store computed it right, but I have no clue how she came to the proper dose. He started limping again after the change, but Hanna blew in at the same time...weather I know is a factor as well as a change in meds. Anyway, if a horse weighing 1100lbs. gets 1 ounce how much should a dog weighing 100lbs. get?? I've been giving 2.5cc as I was told. As I said..totally clueless as to how this amount was arrived at. I really hate to see him limping, although today has been better, but now we're possibly looking at Isidore. Oh for a magic wand to make it all better!!

Ginger: 1 pint (8 ounces) = 500cc's. The horse (1100 lbs) gets 1 ounce which is 1/8 of 500cc's or 62.5cc's. The dog (100 lbs) is 1/11th of the horses' weight, or 62.5cc's divided by 11= 5.68 cc's.

DO NOT take this as the correct dosage! I am NOT prescribing medicine, just doing the math.

You are too funny, Betty!

hmmmmmmm............called a pharmacy this morning and they told me that 1oz.=30cc. and that 1ml. and 1cc are the same.

darius that's less then half of your calculations. So now I'm really lost. Upped Payne's dose to 3cc today..wait and see how he does I reckon. On the plus side he really loves the new stuff..just like doggie candy. LOL

Ginger... I'm so embarrassed. I mis-read the ml side of my glass measuring cup as 500ml when it is actually 250ml... lots of the print has been scrubbed off over time so it was an easy mistake to make. Glad you checked with a reliable source!
