I am so sorry to read this, and it makes me feel so blessed. My precious granddarling loved Discovery Zone, and especially the ball pit, when she could barely walk. I was concerned from the beginning, as I saw kids with diapers sagging to their knees, snotty nosed kids, kids with sores, all kinds of perils, and could scarcely bear to let granddarling touch the toys there. DD and I discussed it, but decided we couldn't protect her from everything. We carried wet wipes and hand cleaners with us and tried to minimize the time she had the germs on her. We had annual memberships to DZ, and she went often. Then they folded up and left town in the dark of night! She couldn't understand why we no longer took her there. We felt bilked of our new membership. As she grew older, we explained to her about boogers and soiled diapers and gross things she was touching. We have taught her not to touch handrails, aka booger bars, when she uses stairs and escalators, and to avoid touching things in public restrooms as much as possible, and to open the doors with a tissue. Now I feel we were blessed to have lost DZ! We buy toys at McD's, and bring them to her in sealed packages, but we don't go to the play yards. It's just not worth the risk!

well Crimson, it does say to be careful and make sure they they clean regularly. Ours are just getting big enough for these things and honestly I'd never thought about them being gross before, so I do know what to look for now:) thanks
