As it is subscription time again, it is time for the Garden Angels to be busy :)
I've already had several requests, so I figured it was time to get more organized with it.
I feel like things worked out very well last year, so why mess with a good thing :)
If you are looking for a garden angel to sponsor you, please email me.
If you are looking to be a Garden Angel, please email me. If you know of someone specifically that you want to sponsor, please email me first (this way one person doesn't end up with 3 years worth of subscriptions).
As always, whether you are a garden angel, or need a garden angel- Dave's Garden will keep all of your information private. Unless the Garden Angel wishes to make themselves known, we will not give out that information, nor will we be discussing "gossip" about who needs what and why.
Thanks to all of the wonderful Angels out there! I look forward working with you all this year!
Trish
Garden Angels
Trish...you are a true Angel..to take the time to do this! Thank you. Jo
Bringing this back to the top ~~~~~~~

Okay, now I have found this thread, and never knew it existed. Is this still in effect, and can we DGers still donate to it to help out???? This is such a great idea!
email Trish directly, they have a "commitee" now :-)
keyi-
Yes, this program is still in effect. I did it myself for a couple of years, and last year asked a group of members to help me out. The committe is in charge of scouting out the forums looking for people who may need help, as well as working together determine who really needs help, verses who just wants to not pay their subscription fees (yes,, sad...but it does happen.)
Members are still allowed to personally sponsor anyone they choose.
I will say, however, that the committee has done an outstanding job. Many times someone will ask for a donation...a newer member might not know that this person has asked for their dues every year, has never contributed, and/or is just looking for a free ride.- The committee members have all been around DG long enough to know this....they/we are absolutely committed to helping those who need help (many throughout the year), yet firmly saying no to those who are looking for a freebie.
The membership at large has done an outstanding job of:
a) reporting those who may be in need of assistance
b) contributing to the fund to ensure that anyone who needs help gets it
Trish
I am paying my subs. with PayPal and it is easy to do living outside US. Contribute to angelfund is harder to do. have to go to bank, exchange an so on. is there anyway you can make it possible to instead of writing my our buing subsc for another member. that we can wright angelfund instead, so you can use the money for someone that you know is in need of big help.
Janett
Janett,
You can PayPal your contibution- no problem! Just write in the notes area that this is for the GAF. We just can't take credit cards for the donation (it is against the rules that we agreed upon with our credit card gateway people).
Thanks!
PayPal: stdout@standardout.com
I remind everyone that we have PLENTY (really!) in the GA fund, but we're making the information available if you REALLY want to contribute.
In my opinion, your funds might be better spent elsewhere.
Dave
I know it is pretty full for now. I was asking for the info to use in the future because the tread came up now, insted of creating a new tread when it is time to donate.
best r Janett
Yeah, the Angel Fund may be flush right now, but Katrina will cause LOTS of financial problems all over the country. And, while Dave and Trish are giving free subscriptions to anyone who lost their home in Katrina, many others all over the country will feel the ripple effects AND need help.
agreed.
Angel Fund still active?
"eyes"
The angel fund is active but we're not accepting any new contributions as it is stuffed to the gills. :) The Garden Angel committee (still in place with all the original members and still the members of the committee are secret) continues to give subscriptions to those in need.
That is really nice! Plus, it's great that the fund is ...uh....well-funded!
i had no idea any of this existed meaning there is a commitee and all that. you two are doing good and keep up the good work.
Thanks! I set up the committee several years ago to ensure that there was no one person making decisions on these things. It has worked out very well, and we're happy to be able to help people out throughout the year.
