M2K Press Release

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

May 17, 2001 (Loudon, TN): Dave's Garden, Inc. issued a warning today about possible Member 2000 (M2K) problems on the horizon for the Dave's Garden Webserver. The M2K problem has been widely publicized throughout the news media as a potentially devastating computer bug that will bring the world's computers to a halt at the moment Dave's Garden reaches 2,000 members.

DG Chairman, CEO, Webmaster, and Farmer responded to the concerns. "There's no need to continue spreading fear and panic through the world. We've invested billions into making sure that the Dave's Garden webservers are M2K compliant. I'm confident that we'll reach our two thousandth member without a hitch."

Other industry pundits were skeptical, however, and warned the public that the M2K problem is very real, and could have serious implications. "Dave's Garden is a gardening juggernaut!", one un-named source exclaimed. "At the rate he is growing, there will be a vortex of people entering Dave's Garden at unprecedented levels! Studies have shown that this rate of growth around a single website could lead to a significant deficit for all the other garden websites!"

The Knoxville, TN area, where Dave's Garden is based, continues to manage to handle the influx of traffic caused by DG. A spokesperson for a Knoxville-based Internet Service Provider said, "Sure, it's good for business, but we're working around the clock to ensure our systems are up and running, thanks to the bandwidth requirements to run Dave's Garden. We'd like to assure the public that when DG approaches the 2,000 member mark, we will have additional experts on hand working overtime to ensure all services will be up and reliable."

About Dave's Garden, Inc.:
DG's public mission statement is "To nurture and support an online community of gardeners and farmers with open discussion forums, friendly and intuitive web-based applications, and accurate and useful information.", but more appropriately and to the point, Dave's Garden is the massive gardening juggernaut that won't stop crushing its competitors until every last gardener in the world makes DG their home.

Crushing your competitors, Dave? You're too nice for that. Just one will do! Seriously, I don't think you'll have any problem fulfilling your aim. Open and friendly, they're the words, and your site just keeps on saying them, day after day. You've got the right idea - a garden should be an open place, with light shining down on it - a place of peace and love, with nobody skulking behind the rocks. What is it the poem says, "You're nearer God's heart in a garden, than anywhere else on earth." That's the kind of feeling I get from Dave's Garden. Well done, Dave and friends!

What a great mind and sense of humor you have. Sure wish I could make the big "Shindig" at your place and meet ya.

Thanks for a great place to come and relax and meet some great gardening friends.

Oh, it's not just other gardening sites that have lost my interest...it's almost all other sites. There is so much to see and do here, I spend most of my online time browsing all the goodies right here at DG!

Just keep on growing, Dave.

Hey Dave,

I didn't realise the seriousness of your warning about this bug thing. I just heard that one your competition has just had a bad dose of it..... think they said it was a serious case of Foot IN Mouth. Does that ring anyone's chimes ??

The ever watchful,

El Tel

So far we're holding!!

No word from our local paper. Ah well, looks like new members came pouring in without this particular media outlet's assistance, LOL!
