I know this needs in the computer forum, but I just found this spy ware on my computer and thought others might have it too. What makes me so mad is that my OWN cable company sent it to me. Here is a link.http://www.interesting-people.org/archives/interesting-people/200202/msg00164.html

I don't mind paying for something, but this underhanded way of making more and more money is unethical. Especially when one hasn't a choice of venders.

I've got it deleted finally I think. I've also got my firewall set to NOT ALLOW anything to go in or out to Comcast Support of this BJCF.

Boy, that practice just ROTS. I *hate* installations that either comandeer my system with proprietary stuff (like the recent SBC Yahoo upgrade since Prodigy was bought by them) or put spyware on my system. Thanks for that link, Susie. We've been wondering if Adelphia (our provider) is going to be bought out by someone, and if Comcast buys them you can bet I'll be watching for this junk from them. Yuck!

Come to think of it, I bet Adelphia's eSupport Assistant does something like it --- Good thing their web-based download/installation defaults to drive C and my boot drive is F...I couldn't install it if I wanted to LOL. One of their lead tech support guys told me he can't get it to install on his computer.

I had a Comcast Cable for years (no choice) and then Knology moved in and I immediately changed to them. Comcast has been upping the prices because of no competition. I did not know about the other stuff! Glad to be rid of them but will be watching to see if Knology does the same!
