mouse

Hempstead, TX(Zone 8b)

i found a mouse living in my spare bedroom i use for storage and drying seed. i don't let my 4 cats in that room. this mouse ate all my datura seed. when i let my baby in to catch it roger just picked it up no fight. do you think he was stoned? but that wasn't the end of the story roger almost got the mouse to the door when he dropped it and it ran under the washer then roger caught it again then dropped it under the fridge. then in the furnace then under the stove. lol. dh finally came home and caught it in a box we let the mouse loose in the woods. when i woke up this morning there was that mouse in the hallway i guess the cats had to bring it back and show me they can do something and if i could feed them again. to say the least that spare room door is now left open because i'm sure there is a family living in their and the cats are only going to be fed 1x a day they are to fat and lazy. they need to earn their keep.
here is roger my baby just had to attach a picture lol.

Reminds me of my ex boss in LA that decided to build a better mousetrap! He rigged up a live trap using a garbage can and the next day he has the mouse in it. He took it 8 blocks and turned it loose in a field. Every day he caught 1 mouse. We had to mark it's back with paint before he would admit he was catching the same mouse over and over again :~)

i had a mouse living with me in fl. everyday i would throw out its nest and everyday i would find a new one in the same place. this same mouse would empty my ash tray and put all the butts on my chair. all the poison i set out it would make a pile of it in the middle of my floor. after a while it dissapeared i guess one of my cats caught it. i always have had multiple cats

Funny stories, which of course reminds me...I worked a second job at Waccamaw which became Homeplace before they went belly up. During the holidays we got lots of decorations and such with berries and nuts on them. A squirrel was discovered back in that department and amidst much shreiking and laughing the squirrel was caught. These kids took the squirrel to the furthest tree in the parking lot. What happened?? The squirrel was back at the door wanting in before they were. We laughed til we cried, employees and customers alike. I sure miss that store!

floridian, what a hoot.
zany, thanks for a funny story

Beautiful cat. That's a funny story. Spike, the cat I used to have would bring me live mice into the house and leave them at my feet. Then he would lay down and stretch out like he was so proud of himself. I always wondered if he thought he was bringing me dinner.

from what i know cats see us as the leader of the pack we are their lion so they bring us gifts. alive they want you to have fresh food and you are at the top. dead they had too much fun playing but still want you to have first meal. 1/2 eaten they still love you but they knew you weren't to hungry but wanted to bring you a gift anyway.
and yes i just made that all up but it does sound good? lol

No, that isn't your cat, it's my Molly! Late last winter, I had a squirrel so bold, it came down into the main hall, paused at the turn, then calmly walked over to me, as I stood with the phone in hand telling DIL what was happening, and sat on my foot! I moved, it scurried under my bed, and I was wary of cornering it. I thought it had probably come into the house from the attic, where I can hear animal activity but haven't located an access. I had to leave, and as I opened the back door to go out, all three of my cats forced their way into the house, something they would never do under normal circumstances. They obviously smelled the squirrel. I came back several hours later, and the poor little squirrel was stiff and cold on the hall floor. The cats rushed out to the back porch in anticipation of being fed, since they had missed it when I left. I was still pretty weak from my illness, and didn't get around the entire house often. Some weeks later, I plowed through a pile of stuff stored in the living room, and discovered porcelain and other things knocked from the mantel, things knocked over on a shelf unit in front of the window, from a lamp table, off of a library table. The plastic covering over an unused window a/c was ripped to shreds, and the room in general looked like a war zone. I can only begin to imagine the battle that ensued there, as my cats chased that poor little squirrel high and low. Now when they act real pushy at the back door, I let the cats in for a few hours. None of them have ever lived inside, and would be unhappy if they couldn't be free to roam the fields, but they also regard the house interior as their responsibilty and don't readily tolerate intruders. In fact, the rat problem was the reason I acquired my original cat after moving here, and occasionally I have to let this generation show their more basic qualities.
