My Granddaughter is on the USS Abe Lincoln.

Crossville, TN

My DGD is aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln...one of our carriers... In an email we just recieved from her she said that CNN had been aboard and took pictures of the crew, spelling out the words "READY NOW"! She said they WERE ready too...and that the officers tell them that this is the real thing...no more games. OH...She is in the "D"....watch for her....LOL

All kidding aside...let's keep our military close in our hearts and prayers.

The picture is Amy when she made E-3...I think she is E-5 now. Proud Nana

That's my Baby Girl~! Amy works on the actual flight deck. She earned her qualification as "Trouble Shooter" last year. She, and others with this qualification, give those roaring jets the final once over before they are catapulted off the deck of the carrier. She following in her Dad's footsteps as my DH spent 20 years about decks like this one. Every milestone she crosses, he passes on his insignias to her. This year she conpleted her Air Warfare Specialist exams and earned her wings. I still don't know what that means but he was really bustin' his seams with pride because of it.
As for where she is and what they are going to do....Remember, "Loose lips, sink ships!" Maybe that means more to me because the people on those ships are not faceless to me. I wouldn't tell if I knew and she'd be busted if she told. I'll be like everyone else, just like I was during the Bombing of Libya (my DH was on board the USS America at the time).....living for any word that the ships and their crews were safe.

Wow, I am impressed. One of my daughters trained with the Army in Alabama, but didn't make a career of it. I am so proud of all the young women who have proven we can stand up for our country's defense. Jo, she is a lovely lady, and I know you are proud as punch. Weedwalker, one mother of a special woman to another, you did good when you raised that girl!
