Degrees

I'm not sure how to convert celsius to fahrenheit. The data base is in celsius so what zone would be 0°? It was very confusing to me (I confuse easy *LOL*)

Those temperatures are presented exclusively for the benefit of our friends outside the United States and use Celcius.

For those inside the United States, we have the benefit of the USDA Zone chart (linked to in several places here at DG), thus the Celcius is not needed.

But, if you really want to convert it :) my favorite site is this one: http://www.onlineconversion.com/

sugar, here's a link to convert Celsius to Fahrenheit:
http://www.crh.noaa.gov/pub/temp1.htm If you lose this link, you can find it under the Celsius term in Garden Terms

When you say what zone would be 0, I'm guessing you're referring to Celsius? That be zone 10, since it includes minimum temperatures from -1.1 to +1.6.

Thanks for keeping Celsius in the PDB :D

For the zones - I should be on 5b but I don't believe it myself. As, last winter the coldest temperature here was -26 C or something.

Ok, The plant I just put in says, COLD HARDINESS 0°. What zone is that? While U are at it give me the zone for 32° & 20°. I must be missing something somewhere *G*

Sugar, do you mean the liriope you just put in?

I'd daresay it's hardier than zone 10, and here's what I do when I want to find out something about a particular plant. I opened up Google and searched for "Liriope variegata hardiness" (without the quote marks), and here are my results: http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&q=Liriope+variegata+hardiness

Without evening opening the links, you can skim through the results and probably find what you're looking for...in this case, it looks like it's hardy to zone 6 or so. (I ususally open up a few and look to make sure I'm reading the information correctly.) Good sources for hardiness data are the MSUE descriptions, Floridata, Desert Tropicals, and CES.UGA pages. Hortpix usually has the info, but I find it is often different than the consensus I reach through other sites, so I try to verify their data with other sources before I rely on it.
