Next page, prev page, 1 2 3 4

At long last, we have a better way to navigate threads. This is one of the most asked for features that I never did find time to put it in.

Well, a customer of mine has requested this feature for their own site that I'm building for them, so I had to write the code. My customer's gain is your gain, because I rolled the feature back into DG after I was done. ;-)

You can see it in the forum view (where you see the threads). Instead of "Next Page" you now can skip way ahead or way back.

Hmmm...I'm confused tho. Up at the top of the forum page(s), under the forum name on the left, it says "manage this thread". What does that do? I've clicked on it and it returns me to my home page.

Shoe: Ignore that link. It's an admin link for Vols, Trish, and myself. That link is how we move threads around and such. It shouldn't have shown it to you, and that's fixed so it won't anymore.

Indeed, Dinu, and better late than never. :)

The feature turned into a fairly complex thing, so it wasn't an easy thing to program. I needed the extra motivation to make it happen, so I'm glad it did.

11 months after you asked for it, you got it. That must be a record for the long time between a request and a fulfillment. :)

Great!..I just tried it..what fun!

It will surely save a lot of our time. This great feature is worth the wait. We can now turn the pages in much the same way we use a book. We can now make up for all the lost time! :o)

I have been playing with it and loving the ease, but one wish for a slight change: if we know we need to go to page 4, it can be time consuming to scroll all the way down the list. Can the list be repeated at the top of the page, or on the side? (I can just hear you talking about keeping the pages uncluttered *G* ) But since many of us use partial windows and run several things at once, it takes a while to scroll down to the bottom of a page in a partial window, that is why I hadn't really looked at what is at the bottom of the pages before!
