Any interest in a digital camera forum? or a Photos/digital cameras forum?
Photos and digital cameras
oblambert, do you mean as in discussion of cameras and brands and discussion of aspects of photography? (sorry for my ignorance.. :-) If so, it sure would have come in handy when I was searching for a camera.
Yes, Lisa....so we can teach each other thru questions and answers mainly, about which dig. cams for various purposes, and quality of pics we can expect. Lighting, etc.; anything associated with taking the best pics.
I am not too well informed on dig. cams, but I don't want to end up with one that shows brugs, etc. in off-color. Some of our members surely are experts in these, and the best ways to use them:)
I think the computer talk forum is a good one for that, because when you get into cameras, you're also getting into operating system issues, hardware to go with the camera, using software...it's a pretty wide range of computer-related topics. Just my 2-cents worth. :)
I think GW is right. There is more to a digital camera than just the camera...(i've found out) I think the computer forum is where I'd go to post any questions that I'd have.
I think ob has a good idea also. I would like to see a forum just for photography talk. I don't know how much I would post..but I sure would lurk. I really would like to learn more about taking pics. There are so many here that take beautiful pics and folks like JoanMN, Mark, Gardenwife and others have so much to offer us rookies. :-)
I personally think it's a good idea. Computer Talk really is more for discussing software, virii, firewalls, browsers, etc. There is no forum for talking about photography techniques (aperture settings, speed, configuration of specific cameras, techniques for cleaning up images, etc).
I think the forum would be a fantastic idea, but the lack of interest might indicate that the few serious photographers here aren't interested in discussing the same. :)
dave
you build it..they will come.. :-)
I'd participate dave, just didn't know if there was enough people out there for another forum...thus,my comments above.
I don't know how time consuming it would be to build a "Photography" forum, but sure would like to see it built if possible.
Photography,it seems to me,
is a very large part of DG, and the better quality pictures each member can post....the better for everyone. Properly focused and true-to-color pictures lend to better appreciation, as well as identification, of the subject images.
Selection and proper use of cameras and photography equipment would make for very informative discussions:)

I would probably have a few questions for the new forum, but mainly just read and learn.
Well, I'm going to set it up.
dave
Yeah, well, after reading your posts, it does make sense to have a separate spot. The Computer Talk forum would get full pretty fast with people starting threads about this camera or that, and smartmedia, and compactflash, and techniques, and software...There's a lot, you're right.
Cool! I'm headed over there now! I've got a few questions about my new camera. ;)
Wonderful...where might I find it??
Never mind!!

Oh brilliant - what a great idea! Thanks Owen and Dave :)
I'm with Arsenic. I'm going to buy a digital camera before the daylilies begin to bloom next May. I've already been searching. A professional photographer gave me a recommendation, but I'm not ready to plop down the plastic, especially since there's a restocking fee if I don't like it or it doesn't work with my system. Thanks, Dave.
