Bad news for badseed!

Talking to badseed tonight and her monitor blew. She called to tell me what happened. She won't be able to be online for awhile until she can get a new monitor. She is cussing a blue streak and already in withdrawal. She just wanted me to post and let you know so you wouldn't be worried about her.

Aw, Badseed, that's a tough break. Hoping you will be back with us soon. Miss ya already.

Peggy -- tell her to go to Goodwill. I know the one in our neighboring town Zanesville has monitors for $1 and $2 each. Even if they're not great monitors, they're dirt cheap and would get her through until she could get a better one. We can't do without Chele!! :)

Giggle TiG you know she will get you back for that remark. lol She called again today they are going tonight and get her DH's laptop from work so she should be on later tonight and have it for tomorrow.So I am sure she will be posting tonight.

I second GW's suggestion! A couple years ago when mine blew, I went to Goodwill on the suggestion of a friend. I ended up getting a really nice one for twenty bucks and a spare for five, just in case.

Good grief! I was gone 24 hours and tiG has me breeding already! LOL Eyes, when you see me on the computer, that is when I am taking a break! Thanks Peggy, for posting my unfortunate disaster. Hubby ran to work and got his laptop for me. Now I can run to the HP/Compaq websites and see what I can find on employee purchase. :) Who has money?!?! Thank heavens I married a nerd!

I guess I am temporarily back, or partially back. LOL Hubby may or may not want his lap top for work. I have to find a new monitor. It is such a bad thing to be on the puter here a pop/crack and have your screen go black. I'd say it is beyond resurrection. :( Oh well, it could be worse, right? right? LOL

yes, you could have lost the harddrive, motherboard or cpu!!! I'm so thankful my DH has a laptop that he keeps at home from work or I wouldn't have been here for a long time now.

Oh, pop crack...Yeah, probably not too good. Howie once spilled coffee into a monitor at a job; it was a lumber yard and the monitor was mounted below the counter with a piece of glass set into the counter above it. The coffee spilled and followed the path of least resistance, right to the edge of the glass and dripped through to the monitor grill below. Smmmmmmokin'. Ouch!

Company laptops are good! LOL We did try turning the monitor on and off a few times just to *make sure*. LOL More pops and cracks. But at least we are sure. :) Gee, I hope there is no minimum amount for employee purchase (she says hopefully eyeing the outdated digital camera). snicker giggle

Oh goody goody! BS is baaacckkk. Lani is doing the happy dance now. Hope you find a new monitor soon and that you will be totally back, whole, and happy. I agree that it is nice to have a nerd in the family.However, DH and I want to retire and DS just is not getting with the get rich scheme that we desire for him so he can support us in the manner to which we would like to become accustomed. Cab driving is just not cutting it. LOL Lani

Yep - ya know what they say about retirement. You get twice the husband and half the paycheck - it's true!!

Hey Michele, I just spoke with DH & he has an extra 15" IBM G50 monitor at work that uses a standard 15 pin connection. It's old & would probably only be a temporary solution for you if it's even worth it. Just a thought...

Thanks Morph! I will ask hubby. Right now I am looking at getting one through HP/Compaq (who hubby works for). Waiting to see what the discount it and what the deduction would be per paycheck.

I forgot to "watch this thread" ~ dope! Not a problem as I know that monitor is old and once you've used a 17" monitor or larger, a 15" is about impossible to use. Hope you get a nice deal on a new monitor ~ they are always getting better & better and I think that helps our eyes :)

Monitor trauma is about to end! Being the cheapskate that I am, I am going to wait 7-10 days for the FREE ground shipping. LOL My new 17 inch Compaq monitor was a bargain at $129 or $14/wk for ten weeks. I really do appreciate your offer Morph. You are a sweetie. :)

Awww, Badseed, if I suddenly found myself in your area, I would just tie a bandana round my noggin, grab some cleaning supplies and head over. I would say you had won a free cleaning in a drawing, and by the time you figured out who I was, there would be no reason to worry. Then we would make a pot of coffee and visit. No mother of even one child should ever worry about the darn housekeeping. Makes one lose sight of what's important.
