Oh no! Not another new forum request!

Grove City, OH(Zone 6a)

Since the annual vote is almost over, here is a suggestion for a new job: how about a forum for discussing plant society (local, national, international) that members belong to.

It would be a great way to quickly ID members who might be interested in forming plant societies locally; for example, our local Hosta Society tried to find out who might be interested in forming a new plant society of Aroids. They had a hard time doing it without any publicity; DG would be a great place for members of similar societies around the country and world, with other similar society members.

Or a way to identify ourselves on our Member Page as belonging to local societies (or former members) that can be cross-referenced? Yes, I know; a whole lot of work.

Some of the better-known plant Societies: American Horticultural Society; American Herb Society; American Rose Society; Royal Horticultural Society of Canada (not positive about that name); American Hosta Society.

Any interest?

Not sure how you will go about it, but count me in!

It's an intriguing idea... I'm going to defer to Dave, since it would involve programming issues. Not to mention trying to compile all those society names :)

Perhaps it could be managed along the same lines as our home page "favorite websites" - you'd have space to list (a limited number of) societies you belong to, along with their website if they have one. (Now whether that would be searchable is a whole different issue.)

But I'm getting ahead of myself - let's see what others have to say :)

I do come up with them, don't I?

And people can put their affiliations in the little blurb they write about themselves, too. It doesn't automate the process of finding other members, but at least they're listed that way.
