It's no use Barry!! Your Southern accent is terrible!!! Once a Scot, always a Scot!! Sorry, didn't mean to butt in but couldn't resist it!! lol!!

Middle, TN(Zone 6b)

Why would a Scot want to talk Southern anyway? You people have the cutest accents imaginable. Could be that my Scottish blood is part of the senerio in my evaluation. I love going to the U.S. Highland Games to hear the entertainers and a few others talk and sing. I have also gone to Scotland twice and didn't want to come home. LOL I hope to go again before I go on to Glory! ha!

We are having a Lindsey/McLeod family reunion this weekend and I always work very hard at making sure that all the wee ones get a good dose of Scottish history. I play Scottish songs on the CD player for them also.

Although our families came over many years ago, there is still a strong musical love in our family for the type of songs that came down through the generations among our ancestors in the Smokey Mountains and the Ozark Mountains. (Country music and bluegrass music owe the people from Scotland and Ireland a debt of graditude for letting us borrow the "sound" for that wonderful music.) Many Scots/Irish settled there long ago. My ancestors came from both regions. Those names are McLeod, Lindsey, Beaty, Finley, and further back Day and Baird. Are there any cousins out there anywhere? Let me know, ok?

Guess I need to put a Scottish CD in my "coffee cup holder" and really get with it here in Nashville, TN. Of course I sing "Scotland the Brave" with a Southern accent. What a sound that is!!!

Wintermoor, would you be so kind as to tell me where I can order the Dave Gardner tapes like the ones you sent Aimee? She said you might be able to tell me and to be sure to ask you.

HAH...all the moor reason to head across the big puddle, teach Southern to Wintormoor! I just knew I shoulda picked up an extra copy of "MarySue deBone's Dikshunary of True Southern Language". (Still on sale, folks, down at Porkchop's House of Pigmeat Cafe!)

Actually, I remember telling someone once how to pop tater bugs w/rye flour, and I believe we ended up talking about slugs 'fore the thread was over. (At that point in time I believe we were into lounge chairs and a BB gun tho!)

As for info on slugs...while looking up some stuff to offer gerddi I found this site. 'Tis loaded w/lots of info and tips (and even mentions which one seem to work and which ones don't!). (Did you know slugs were hermaphrodites? And can mate with themselves? Wow, what a life?) I was especially interested in using quack grass to kill them...I just KNEW that stuff would one day be good for something!

Wow, that is a great site and I must try some of those remedies. I have tried the beer thing, but my slugs are members of AA and don't drink anymore. LOL

Good try Barry with the accent, I thought it was pretty good for a Scottish man.

I would love to listen to Barry and Shoe having a conversation...wouldn't that be a hoot?

LOLOLOL Ladies, I wasn't actually trying to copy any accent, I was just feeling a wee bit daft.... that's all..... and I had just heard a wee song from Tom Lehrer where it starts "Spring is here, OH Saparing is here".... honest!!

THANK YOU Lisa, and Shoe for the tips!!

SoCal & Jo, I think Shoe and I would get on like a house on fire, but I'd feel sorry for you poor folks trying some eavesdropping on our conversation..... who would have knots in your ears LOL
