NEW? Yes or no

Would someone explain to me why the extreme left columns that say "New?" that the answer is "yes" most of the time. But I notice a few "nos" including mine, which I just posted so I have to assume it's "New." What gives?

No means you have already looked at the tread, and Yes means there is a new reply you haven't read.

To add to this... The system figures that since you were the one who posted the reply (or new thread) that you had already seen it (since you created it). Thus it's not new to you.
