Forum for tools and equipment?

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Someone recently mentioned they'd like to have a forum to discuss the pros/cons of various brands and styles of farm/garden tools and equipment. As always, Dave encouraged us to start a new thread to see if there's enough interest in this topic to warrant a specific forum. So what do ya'll think?

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

I think it's a great idea - There were a couple discussions about the Flat Hose that ended up in Garden Talk, and I'm sure other similar questions have been posed in various other forums. It would be nice to be able to look in one spot for info about gardening tools/products, yes.

Count me in as a vote for "yes" on a tools/equipment forum. Many times I've wished we had such a forum.

uhhh, Dave - does your vote count for just one vote, or is it a shoe-in at this point? (*grin*) I'm for it, too, BTW.

We're still debating the chipper/shredder versus leaf-blower/shredder in anticipation of fall leaves. It'd be nice to have a forum just for discussions like that.

Not at all! As with any forum (and keeping with our slogan) I still want to see a good turnout before the thread is created. At least 8 people should give it the thumbs up before it's created.

Somebody say "shoe-in"...?

I'd vote for it, not that I need any more equipment but perhaps I could offer some input from what I've used/owned over the yrs, and the pros and cons from personal experience.

yes vote

Well, that's 5 votes. That'd be enough, I think (pulling my leg here). I'll get those forum setup.

Thanks, Dave!

I'm certainly giving a YES vote. This is probably one of the forums I miss most from GW even tho I no longer go there even for that. Thanks, Dave.

High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

definitely YES for me :). there are too many tools out there, some are cheap, others expensive. we need to know what really works for our money's worth. would be nice to hear what others have to say.

Excellent topic!

Did this Forum die? I was hoping it was still around, as I am interested both in posting GOOD tools, and advice for more tools that really work.

Allen Park, MI(Zone 6a)

I'm a Tim Allen kind of guy. I always need more tools.
Another YES vote.

I agree that having input before buying is wonderful. We had a discussion just a few weeks ago on another forum about chainsaws. Most helpful, but where is it? Was there not enough interest? :) Kathy

I'd like to see it, too. We've discussed Mantis tillers in one of the forums, chipper/shredders have been discussed ... it would be nice if there were a place just for these discussions. It might not be the most active forum, but it would be useful. Sorry it didn't last.

Big thumbs up here!

Forums that were not used were removed. But we have grown a lot since August of 2002. It might have more interest with the new membership. Or it might be another one that gets some attention at first and then fades away again.

For me, this type forum is one I would only check if and when I am in the market for equiptment. At that point it would be of great interest. But when I am not looking for something I would not think to check it.

Okay, I put it back. :)

Cool, Dave, Thanks... and I realize it is up to us to carry it through...

That idea for a forum is a good one. I have posted in many forums about various tools and equipment. Now I can just post everything in one. Thanks.

Can threads like the Mantis tiller be moved there? It sure would be nice to share advice about tools and machines, and know just where to look!

Great idea!

Great Idea for a forum....I'll be watching it and taking note of what's posted..... :o)

I am a new member and joined initially to check out tillers. I vote YES.

Howdy Jemory! A bigtime welcome to DG...! C'mon on in!

Hope to see you around!

(What kinda tiller you looking for?)

Everson, WA(Zone 8a)

I am thinking of buying yet another tiller I have a troybuilt horse and am baby sitting another. I also have a mantis.
One is to big for some things while the other is to small for some things.

I really want this one for weeding and flowerbed maintenance with a little luck I will get just the right one.

As it stands the Tuffy and Super Bronco have all but won but the question is which one? I have pretty much decided on the Bronco even though it is $150 more ,because it has an overhead valve engine,1 1/2 horse power bigger engine, a front bumper guard, two inches wider tilling tines and a power driven reverse.

Anyone have experience with these two models My concerns with the tuffy are the flat head engine and the poor starting characteristics they have. The lack of power reverse. The fact that it needs a $69 engine guard to protect the carburator.

Tomorrow is the big day I am going to town and do it thanks Ernie.

think yall want to go look at the "tool shed" forum.
