an idea wanted.

a couple of threads down, you may have read that "tink" passed away. Some in DG knew her, and some didn't. I feel that if we all are members of an "inner circle" we should do something all together.

Here then is the question: in such occasions (and why not in pleasant ones as well) what should be done by DG members? It should be not tiresome, not monotonous, not exaggerated. An idea is to collect money for a charity - another is to write to the family and send something from us. What do you think ??

Dimitri, I think that is a really sweet thing to do, and I will be willing to do whatever everybody else wants to do.

I was thinking that, too, Dimitri. We'd like to do something for the family, letters, cards, whatever.

I like the idea of a donation to a charity. Tink was in Disabled Gardeners often, perhaps there is something that we could do along those lines in her memory

Eyes, have they gotten back to you about that? Does the rest of the family enjoy gardening?

If not, maybe a donation to the arthritis foundation in her name, along with cards to the family?

GW, I love that idea. She would want to help fund finding a cure.

The Arthritis Foundation has a promotion going on right now, I read. Until September 12, the Dr. Scholl's company will match donations up to $100,000. OK, up to now we have two suggestions: (a) donations to a charity (b) cards to the family.

I would like to add that whatever we decide to do should be targeted (1) to the family on behalf of DG (incl. notifying the family that we donated from DG on her/his behalf) and (2) to the DG community on behalf of those who knew her/him (like giving away seeds, opening a page with a theme in memoriam, organising an event (preferably in the net) and we would like to hear some really good original ideas.

Does anyone know what Peggie's favorite plant was?

Does anyone have an address for the family? I'd like to send a card and a little money to help with expenses for starters. If you have the address, email me please.

Plus, whatever else is decided upon, please let me know and I'll do that too. If the final decision gets posted here, I'll see it, as I'm watching this thread.
