Never send me shopping again *LOL*

Alfred, ON(Zone 4b)

I had to go shopping today, on the list was tobacco! I always look foreward to visiting a store that sells tropical plants in summer. They had a few plants that I was drooling since a few months, so I thought who knows, maby they have a sale like all the other places.

I was right !!

they had a huge passiflora and a thunbergia marked down to only $ 15.00 each.

I bought one and then went back for the other one. I know I should not had to buy them "no more money for this month" but I could not resisst. I knew that if I don't get them now I will regrett it big time.

the back of my car was full with only two plants.

All the way back towards home I was thinking on what to tell DH....

well I told him "hun I have to cofess something" I bought two plants!! real good deal!!!

he lookt at them asked me how much they where and I told him $ 15.00 each.

he said wow they are a good prise!!! WOW I never would have expected that answer *LOL*

well for me it's my early birthday gift.

Can anyone identify the passiflora? the lady said it has red blooms.
the thunbergia has a tag that sais erecta, but I think it's a grandiflora since it's vining.

WOW that's impressive.

The passiflora looks like vitifolia, which is a red one. The thunbergia sure looks like grandiflora.

thanks calalily,

one more question, when I bring it in for winter do I have to cut them back? or just leave them like that.

another question, how do I take cuttings of these two? this seems so big and I would love to share.

thanks tig,
I just could not ressist *LOL* and the prise was canadian dollars.

I also hope that it's a vitifolia.
Hopefully we are able to poor the cement in the basement soon, so I can move them there as soon as it gets cold.

The next time I will go to the store there will be no more plants I think. but they will open again on mothersday :)

Wow, that's about $9.64 per plant -- and those are HUGE! My maypop is still vining away in the bed out front, but I wonder if I'll get any blooms this season. :(

GW there is always next tear :)

I have a few plants that will not bloom for me this year.

Here the nights have started to get a little cooler. Pretty soon I will have to move all my plants indoors and I realy hope part of the house will be finished by then, otherwise I will panik.....

all my Hoyas are outside in a small greenhouse DH made me. I have about 30-40 different kinds but good thing that some are still small.

Can you tell that I love HOYAS *LOL* My dream is to have a greenhouse one day ( a big one) and full of HOYAS!!

Zameluzza, I take tip cuttings. I count back 3 nodes from the tip(not counting the tip as a node) and cut below the 3rd node. Dip in rooting hormone, stick in vermiculite, sand or potting mix and keep warm and moist.
I don't know about cutting the plants back, Tim would be the best one to ask about those. I've always left mine long, but may have to cut them back this fall since they are huge.

Cala thanks, I'm going to try to make some cuttings.
