Wintermoor

Brewers, KY(Zone 6b)

I've been seeing all the flooding going on in Europe on TV here. I do hope you and the rest of our European friends are doing okay. My heart really goes out to you folks over there. To see Prauge all under water was just awful.

Troy, VA(Zone 7a)

I was about to post to Winter too and you beat me to it Lisa. I've been keeping a close watch on the news and it really is bad. They have been hit really hard in Austria too. DD has not been flooded out but she has not had any power for almost 9 days now. 88 deaths reported!! Winter I hope you are not getting the worst of it again!!

Huntington Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Lisa, you beat me to it also. Have been thinking of Winter all day. The news tonite was full of all the devastation and deaths. Winter, we are thinking of you and your family and friends and hope you are being spared with more of this terrible storm.

LADIES!!!!
You are just the greatest family in the world!!!
I've just been gone two days, and the posse is out.
Thank you all!!
I think all of us are ok, although I am a wee bit worried abou JERDY, who lives in Altstädten, deep in the South, and Louisa's lassie at Lake Constance.
I was in Prague yesterday, and got back home this evening, and I will post a new thread here under the name of CATASTROPHE. I just had to sit down and let you know how some of it looks, and I've just seen a miniscule bit of it all. It's not very funny, and please don't expect a daft wee joke from your old pal Wintermoor for the next couple of days, since I'm still shocked by what I've seen in Prague... The Golden City.

Thank you all again, justmeLisa, Louisa, SoCal, MaVie, "eyes", Mystic, Pebble, et al

I think everyone would cry for the people there, it's really horrific.
I wont sleep easily for a few days, but they wont sleep easily ever again.

God love them

can't helped but be moved and shed tears. particularly watching the news this morning. an elderly lady was moved out of her house, hopefully to keep her safe. unfortunately, when she was being lifted by the helicopter, her old and frail body slip along side the lift seat. she fell. minutes lates after she was brought to the hospital she was pronounce dead.

i have seen catasthropes in my lifetime, nothing of the magnitude though. so sad, very sad!

Brewers, KY(Zone 6b)

Wintermoor, I've just read your other thread and my heart breaks for all who have lost homes, memories and loved ones. Yes, we here in the U.S. of A. do see many natural disasters. Flooding is no stranger to us here. But the people here, just as you see your people there are resilient. They will overcome somehow, someway. The human spirit is stronger than we realize in times like this. Please know that I am in no way making light of this horrible flood. It is so hard to see such a city as rich in culture burried under water. Once again, my heart is sad....

Jesteburg-Wiedenhof, Germany(Zone 8a)

I know what you are saying Lisa,
mates of mine have lost a lot through hurricanes in the U.S. of A. too, especially in the South Eastern States, as have also of course, old ladies/men, but to see it, is to feel how utterly helpless we are against the natural powers of the world.
This flooding, though, is in a magnitude, never seen before in Europe. That is the frightening part of the whole situation.

Let me here say a special "Thank You" to you for starting the possé for us. This family is stronger than any group I have ever known.

Thank you

that is what 'community' is about and DG is a community, even though we are worlds apart..hugs to you.

Jesteburg-Wiedenhof, Germany(Zone 8a)

Yes, but one doesn't realise what community means until it happens... and I must admit, I love this community!

*wee smile*

My heart is breaking for these people. I've read this thread and Wintermoor's Catastrophe post, and this just seems so unreal, but I know it's actually happening. A nightmare. The devastation of it all. I feel so helpless. I can pray for relief for them and I will be doing that.

Bless you Wintermoor for your kind heart.

Wintermoore...what a caring person you are...it shows. We are lucky to have you in our "family" Jo

Huntington Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Oh Barry, so glad to hear you and your immediate family is OK. I have been very distressed after seeing all the terrible distruction from this flooding.

And yes, we are a "family" here at DG, and I love all these wonderful caring people.

Donna

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

I am crying when I see the news reports of all that is going on in Europe. Heartsick and wondering what we at DG can do for those who are suffering there. I will give to charities that help there but what more can I do? I only wish that I could be there for hands-on service to those most affected by this disaster. Praying. Lani

As far as I know my DD is OK Barry!! She has been without power now for 10 days and no phone. I've been so worried about them and my little Ben. I too have shed buckets over the catastrophe. Her hubbie called me on his cell phone but his message was brief - too brief!! And I don't want to use his line in case he needs it for emergencies - I mean how does he recharge his phone!!!! How will they get gas for the car etc. I have to trust in the power of prayer!!

Troy, VA(Zone 7a)

Barry I forgot to mention that I did read your thread and I know that the situation is far worse than we could have ever imagined. You are so right!! Those poor, poor people! You are special and unique - did you know that!!

Editing to include the link below about Germany. My DD is so close to Lake Constance but her house is elevated somewhat.
