unfortunately it's true Dimitri. I have a friend out of this country who sends me cards that don't shake. :) The words 'seeds' does not appear on the outside.
If you feel uncomfortable, you should NOT do it. I know you want to share, but you have to do what you feel best doing.

I sent/received seeds from someone abroad over the past month; I enclosed the ones to her in a velvet bag the last time; the ones to me came in a regular envelope that she had put a piece of stiff cardboard; this is also how I sent my first batch of seeds to her. No problems.

When I do send seeds out of the country, I carry out all the suggestions and requirements about making sure they are disease-free and pest-free. That is the main reason for having the phytosanitary regulations: the US has been beset in its history with many epidemics of pests and diseases caused by things that hitchhiked in. If it becomes a requirement that all things have the necessary inspections, I will probably stop international trading; all the paperwork involved is very time consuming. According to my local PO, the only things required to have such certification are farm crop seeds and living plants (as opposed to seeds). Of course, other countries have their own regulations about what may or may not be imported.

Yet another source of great inconvenience from terrorists who use the mails to spread their destruction.

The more subtle and diplomatic we're, the better for everybody.
Earlier I did have a couple of trades from USA stopped and sended back to the sender by Chilean Customs.
So it is in our interest , not to raise "eyebrows"

Love you all !

I have sent seeds to US several times after the Jan 24th.. But I have always packed them so that they don't shake. Then some paper and bubble wrap around them and they arrive without any problems :)
