Shangshui, Henan, China(Zone 7b)

During my free vocation there, from time to time at midnight when all was in silence,i turned from side to side, sleepless,my brains liked movies wandering about.i thought of the things and persons that i had met in our garden.its population gets larger and larger?Mavierose was not well in health.i know she is a stronge-minded person.she must be well again.Redrose who sent me a little garden gift was still attached on my computer by magnet or not?How about her kitty?a mother already?Evert must be a handsome young man now.hope he is still active in the garden though hormone in his body is doing effects.Wantbegardener's cypress vine which i sent to her should grow well now.i regretthat i have bot told her to form a good shape with some iron threads in order to let the vine climbing over.Cristina living in the south America must be in winter now.while at this time i get some prickly heat spots all over.do hope that i can take some cold ice from there,Baa's peony seeds come out and if they agree with the climate there? and many many other smiling faces......appeared in my brains.
well, though i cannot list them all or have not emailed to them, yet their names will be marked in my mind like carving.
Well,so much for now.see you!
Jianhua

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Jianhua, I think you are a remarkable man to have such a great outlook after your enforced vacation. You thought of friends and flowers while we prayed for you. And now your life will shine as never before since you have been kept from harm by God. We do not always understand what He is doing with us but it is always for good. Your enjoyment of life is inhanced by such an experience, and you share that with all of us. Tell your wife we love her too even tho we do not know her, she is a tender hearted person. What is her name?

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

Jianhua, I agree with Mary that you must be a remarkable person to endure such an ordeal, and come out of it wizer instead of bitter.

When does school start Jianhua? do you have to get ready to go back soon?

I tried to look up your city in google, but there wasnt too much available....and what was available was in chinese.

Shangshui, Henan, China(Zone 7b)

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

JIanhua, just take care, and try to get some rest and relaxation in before you start back to school. The new position sounds like a good change, good luck deciding.
And I agree with above posts, you dont have to answer, we are just so pleased that you are ok and we want to show our support and concern for you.

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

I am agree with Mary and Lisa too.

Durham, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

Jianhua - i understand you were a teacher before all this happened, what were you teaching before?

Shangshui, Henan, China(Zone 7b)

i think to myself that staying there for some time (not too long) does not definitely mean a bad thing.it helps me to understand better and deeper the life.where is the paradise?in the past,i thought it is too far away for me to reach.but now having a teaching job with merry kids, doing some gardening, going fishing, sapping some tea while reading......all these,i feel, is a paradise-like life.i am living in the paradise!
Yes,i have been teaching the English language for middle school students for quite a few years.people call me 'king of the kids'.this school term i will coach them oral english.you know,China have entered WTO,and 2008 Olimpic games will be held in the capital Beijing.so spoken english is becoming more and more important for Chinese youth.the principal chooses me as the tuitor because i have met some US,UK friends on internet.he takes it for granted that my spoken english is good.heheheh.'a monkey will be king of the woods if there is no tigar there.'

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

LOL! What a great saying about the monkey! My grandparents were both English teachers, Jianhua. I have a soft spot in my heart for teachers, and think they have one of the most honorable professions there is.

Shangshui, Henan, China(Zone 7b)

Gardenwife:Here people compare a teacher to 'the industrious gardener'--with dilligent sweat to water the flowers of the motherland'.teaching is an art.when i am teaching my kids english,i use all possible gestures in order to make them understand better what i am saying .for example, nodding head means YES,shaking head NO,wave hand GOODBYE,...(really like a monkey before the blackboard smile*).

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

My father taught English in China during the years 1936--1940 and then he went to war and returned to China with the Army as a chaplin. I know he wanted to return to China after the war but didn't get the opportunity to do that. We did live in Taiwan when I was small so I know just a few phrases of the Mandarin dialect. Dad got so he could speak and read Mandarin pretty well. Your teaching position sounds great, good luck to you in your new life. Lani

Shangshui, Henan, China(Zone 7b)

Lani:you did give me a little surprise -- this thread helps you to remind the old years' old things.your father,i feel, had to go through a hard time during his stay in China, because at the war time, people even could not keep body and soul together.who on earth had the pleasant heart sitting down peacefully to listen to his a b c.
Well, great changes have taken place since China's opening to the outside (from 1980).people's living level is far higher now.if you have a chance to visit China, you will hear merry songs and smiling words everywhere.
maybe this vast exotic land would hook you!):

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

Oh Believe me China already has hooked me. I heard many stories of China at my Fathers side and then when he took our son over there on tour in 1993 I was thrilled to hear from our son his stories and he continues to thrill me with things that he saw and did over there. He wishes to go back someday as do I. We have many belongings also that were my Fathers from China and also I am trying to finish a book that my Father started before he died of his years there and how he loved your people. Great peace to you and your family is what I pray. Your family being the great people of China. :>) Lani

Shangshui, Henan, China(Zone 7b)

Oh,yes,i do believe you,Ms Lani.'The grass is greener on the other side'.an american friend once told a story.when he was a kid,he often played with his companions "Dig to China'.they dug and dug, dreaming to slip down through the hole to china, where he would meet the emperor's daughter and get maried to her.well now,he really lives in china as an english teacher.Fine, isn't it?
Your father's voyage to china at least took 15 days, but now a boein-747 flight at most takes 24 hours from there to here.see, the world has shrunk into a global village.it is much easier to have a world-round tour.Welcome to China!
