Because Of DG

(Zone 5a)

I don't know if this is the right place to post this but I am sure that someone will tell me if I am wrong.
Now back to the subject at hand. I just wanted to thank Dave and Trish for starting this website, I have met some wonderful people that I wouldn't have met other wise. I do belong to other garden clubs but none that is a family like this one. So just in case I didn't give you all your proper's...I am doing it now.
GrannyLois you have a lot to be proud of and I know that you don't need me to tell you so but I just couldn't help myself.
Trish it's the woman behind the man that makes it run smoothe and I want to thank you and all the other's that are involved with making this such a wonderful place for a garden family.
Again I want to give my thanks
Wub ya all

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

This is the best online community I have found since first going online in 1995. Never have I found such a great group of people in one place; DG is truly home to me. Thanks, you guys. :)

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

I agree with everything said. Coming here is like coming home to family.

Absolutely! God bless Trish and Dave for making this all happen!

Huntington Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

"Here - Here"...a salute to them both.

I know I don't post alot, but I have read and traveled with every post that has been made this past year. This is my special "home" away from home. You are all in my thoughts every day, and when someone is hurting or in trouble I am with them in spirit. When we are laughing and having a fun thread, I'm having that same great time with you all. I feel like you are all part of my family.

Donna

Alfred, ON(Zone 4b)

I to have to agree.
I never met anyone in person yet, but I have so much fun here at the board, I don't post to to much. But just reading along makes me feel at home. the relationship you all have it's just wonderful.

so I have to say thanks Dave and Trish for making this possible.
((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))))) to everyone

Carmen

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I agree wholeheartedly. Everyone that I've met has been like a family member.

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

Carmen, I haven't met anyone personally yet either, but someday I hope to. I still feel at home here. I'd like to do one of those road trips like the Fab Four did this year.

I agree, very well said. Thank you to everyone.

Circleville, OH(Zone 8b)

We all can be thankful for the dynamic duo, Family for sure.
I have felt that from day day one, and even more so now that I met so many at the Roundup.

I have dropped out of all other garden sites because I get some much from Dave's that I don't have time to go anywhere else.

Plus I have friends here where as I didn't have that anywhere else.

Plus this site has been a God send for me with going through my divorce, It was a safe place for me for the last year and helped me get away even for just a while.

I never told anyone things were rough at home until about two months ago, and the love and support I have received has been over whelming.

I love you all

Mike

Mansfield, MO(Zone 6a)

Thank you from me too.

What a family of friends as well as gardner's, you guys are just the greatest.
MikeP we love you to }

Harford County, MD(Zone 6b)

This is a great "neighborhood".Members are closer than most actual neighbors.I too, thank Dave and Trish for their efforts.

Jonesboro, GA(Zone 7b)

We really are "family", "Soil Sisters & Brothers". I took the Master Gardener class 2 years ago and I have said many times that I have learned more real practical stuff here than I did in that class! Thanks all!

Paxton, FL(Zone 8a)

I don't bother to visit other garden sites similar to DG cause they are never as good. I love this place, and tell gardeners I meet about it all the time. People stop at out basket shop and I end up digging flowers for them and telling them about DG. The swaps, get togethers, and trading are such fun, and the information is invaluable. One day I'm gonna meet Dave and Trish. Thanks you guys for a wonderful place to hang out.

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

I am going to make up some little cards with Dave's Garden info on them; there's so many times I've told people about the site and wished I had something I could just hand folks.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I used to visit a couple of other sites, but after becoming a member here, and with this site growing daily, I don't have time nor the need to go anyplace else. This is just a great place to meet people, trade plants and seeds, and learn from people with experience. I salute you, Dave and Trish. You have saved the day for many of us and we love you.

Shirley

Sierra Foothills, CA(Zone 8a)

Thank you Dave, Trish and the whole DG gang! What a rich addition to my life.

And thank you Golddog, for introducing me. Even though I had been here one or twice before, you just kept on saying how much time you spent here, and now I know why! Then I became a paid member.

Golddog and I have been "cyberfriends" for a few years now. "gardenbuddies", as it were. We traded plants, seeds, books and stories, all from the beginning at GardenWeb.
That is a nice site but this place is SO friendly and personal!

It just seems like REAL people here, not just words on a screen.

Iola, WI

This is truly a blessed place on the web!

I like GW's idea of card! Dave perhaps you could design a card that could be downloaded for printing? It would make them uniquely yours and yet something that was uniform that we could pass along to our gardening friends!

Crossville, TN

Dave...I too would love to have a card to hand out to people I meet...I talk about DG all the time...heck...I'm always talking so why not about the best web site available?? Do design one and let us print it out. Jo

Troy, VA(Zone 7a)

Great idea!! I was thinking about this thread last night and came to realize just what this place means to me. I have only once frequented another site and for a very short time and before I discovered DG. I have no need to go anywhere else. I have seen people come and go and a few that have not returned. Those that do disappear for lengthy times are surely visiting other sites only to find out that there just isn't anything else like this on the web and they return to us. I have made so many good friends here and learnt much about gardening in the US. I too thank Dave and Trish and those others who make this such a friendly garden. The development, growth and success of DG is all down to the people who had the courage and foresight to instigate it. Their professionalism is to be applauded!! I am so grateful!!

What I like, of course, is the friendly atmosphere. Nobody one-upping (is there such a word?) another. I am still attempting to sort everyone by their handles. I guess it will fall into place. It is truly a family, not just of gardeners, but one of concern for one another. I am still amazed how well this site is organized; so user friendly. I hope to attend a round up next summer to meet some from my area. Yes, thanks for the difficult task you have accomplished, but more thanks for giving eveyone the freedom to be themselves!

(Zone 5a)

Dave if your reading this then I also think it's a great idea, it would also add new members to our garden family. I am always trying to tell people about our garden club but I know that I couldn't express it as well as a card could.

Yep, I think it's a great idea, too. GW, have you seen the Media Kit link on the bottom of this page? The content in there should be enough to get you started with this. Do let me see the finished result so I can put it up for everyone else to use!

Toadsuck, TX(Zone 7a)

Yes. yes.........business cards!! You can keep them in your console of your car, and in your pockets even!! I could sure use some of these by Oct. 19, Dave!!!!!!

No Dave I couldn't find it, right now I am trying to cope with the lost of a beautiful cat that someone poisoned, so if you could please put a link here I would appreciate it, thanks in advance.
I promise I will print them and pass them out to everyone who loves to garden and I know that if they just have the time to visit our family they would love us and join our family.. Again I want to thank you and your lovely wife(she is beautiful)for helping you to continue this club and everyone else involved.
GrannyLois you have a lot to be proud of. I think that if it was my son my head would be so big that the doctor's would have to do surgery to get it back down to normal size lol,God bless.
P.S. I say what I mean and mean what I say and Dave didn't slip me a $20 spot to say this lol...just a little humor to give you all a chuckle.

Seward, AK(Zone 3b)

What a great idea, Gardenwife. I just love it! I make business cards for our business by selecting the business card option on my page format, then I create what I want. I then print out on heavy card stock and cut out on the paper cutter. Our small nursery business could offer the cards. I, too have been passing the word about Dave's, writing the info on the back of our cards. I tell folks about the free database, etc, but encourage them to subscribe so they can participate in the forums.

Dave's Garden has become my evening entertainment, as well as my source for gardening information. It also allows me to share my experiences and photos... it can be so frustrating to not be able to share those things with fellow gardeners on a regular basis!

It's also a great pleasure to know that Dave's is a "Mamma/Pappa operation that has grown to the size it is now. There is nothing "impersonal" about Dave's Garden, and in spite of the occasion clashes and misunderstandings, all the members seem to iron things out, just like most families do, and when someone needs a little encouragement or consolation, they all rally 'round.

Thanks so much to Dave & Trish, and all the folks that make this site possible.

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

Great idea! I've printed out the Media Kit, pretty informative! I like the idea of having a card handy to pass out also. (It would really be cool to have one to hand out with our member name on it! As in "GardenWife recommends DG.com for the following reasons!) {Abbreviated sitename for fear it would come up as a hyperlink.}

Wonder how much juicy info could be put on a card tho...surely a business card would be too small. Maybe a card a tad bit bigger than a biz card and also a separate hand-out (like the media kit) that we could attach the card to on certain occasions (or if people show interest then hand them the separate Media Kit).

All in all...Great idea here in the works!

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

You'd be surprised what all can fit on a business card. Lemme get the info and see what I can come up with. I'm still more offline than on lately, but I'll take a looksie. Dave, would you just want the main site addy, subscription info, and the dave@dg e-mail address? What all would you want on there?

Could have a space for the member to write in his/her username, as in "I'm ____________ at Dave's Garden". That would be nice so the new person would already know one person there.

(Zone 5a)

Duh I found it, but I was looking for a card lol.
