Plant database

Wentworth, SD(Zone 4a)

Dave, I have been too busy with work to play in my journal or add plants to the database. I love what you did with the database. It will be soooo easy to add plants to it now. I was wondering... Is there a way to adjust the ones done before to fill in the section you provided?

Mick

Yes, Mick, you can edit an entry, if you were the one who created that entry.

At the top of the page, there should be an "Edit" link. click that and you'll see all the new stuff, ready to be inputted.

Hey, Dave...the Ferns category on the database isn't showing up now, even though I know I added some to it earlier, and they show up in a search of the database. Am I doing something wrong?

vols: I'm seeing the ferns with no trouble. Which page is missing it?

Sorry, wasn't clear. If I try to add a new plant to the database, and want to categorize it as a fern, "Fern" is no longer one of the choices I have from that pull-down menu.

Ahh, okay it is there now.

I also made some other changes to the plants db today, but you probably won't notice much. Most were internal cleanup stuff.

Dave

Okay yesterday and today I made a lot of changes to the plants db. As before, you may not notice a lot of them, since the changes were mostly underlying stuff...

But, the database is now much more rock solid and complete, and I added a 'family' column in the database. Also, I made it more "linkable" between items in the database, so you can click on the family, genus, or category, anywhere it appears on any page in the database.

Anyway, I'm getting more and more serious about the plants db as the season progresses. It's already a very valuable resource, and will only become more so as time goes on. It's the only truly public and open member-contributed database of plants in existence, that I know of.

Dave
