I'm all alone now.

Villa Rica, GA(Zone 7a)

Yipppeeee!!!! I just got the last one of the kids off to school!! The house seems sooo quiet and they have only been gone about 10min. I sure was happy to see that big yellow school bus coming down the road!! I mean don't get me wrong I love all 3 of my boys, but the summer is so stressful. I'll have a whole 8 hours all to myself, now what to do??? ahhh yes with the weather cool this a/m I should be in the yard tending to weeds....er maybe sit back and watch the news on TV without anyone yelling Mommy!! I just might learn something huh?
Anyone else here had childern get off to school this a/m?
I think it is so strange how they are having to start on a Friday, but just glad all together LOL

Cape May Court House, NJ(Zone 7a)

OH YOU LUCKY GIRL!!!! I AM COUNTING THE DAYS!!! MY BOYS DON"T START HERE UNTIL SEPTEMBER 4TH!!!!! SO IF YOU THINK AN ATOM BOMB WENT OFF AROUND 8:15AM ON 9/4, IT IS ONLY ME YELLING AND SCREAMING WITH JOY!!!!!!!!

Villa Rica, GA(Zone 7a)

LOL Sue, I know the feeling!! That is about how I feel right now! and to be honest with ya it looks like a bomb went off here....with all the clothes laying everywhere and breakfast dishes piled up! Guess by the time I get it all cleaned up they will be back home from school! Busy Busy Busy!! Busy as a "Bee" LOL :)

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

I like the STAPLES commercial where Dad brings the kids school shopping for supplies. He's singing and dancing away to "It's the most wonderful time of the year" .... while the kids are dragging behind him, somber and depressed. It's a hoot!

Villa Rica, GA(Zone 7a)

LOL Felt like doing that too, except I was at Wal-Mart! hee hee

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

Molly I understand your joy!! ;]
Counting the days like my good friend ruby42!

Villa Rica, GA(Zone 7a)

O Dori I too have heard all those things! It's always something like that too when you have a house full of boys! Mine were always into something too, seemed like when 2 of them were being good, the 3rd one would just have to start some kind of trouble! It was very rare that all 3 were quiet and peaceful(unless you count when they were sleeping) LOL

Greenfield, IN(Zone 5b)

Oh Molly, I am jealous!!!! My oldest goes back Aug 20. My youngest will start pre-school after labor day, but I will be teaching preschool this year & he is in my class. (he gets to go free & I get a part time job!) But we will still be together 24/7....sigh. I love them to death though & wouldn't change a thing!

Troy, VA(Zone 7a)

I know where you are all coming from but since my days of having youngsters under my feet are long gone, I would willingly swap places with all of you! Cherish the moments, they are all too fleeting!! I know you do!! :-)

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

OH.. here on 8/13.. few days left until kids go back to school.. Yea Yeah.. I neeed a BIG BREAK and I am housewife so I can catch up all things is CLEANING that kids left a messy during summer.. Helsinki, Finland(Zone 4b)

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

my kids go back september 4th...It is always nice to get them back into the routine of school....I can't wait either...

Toadsuck, TX(Zone 7a)

I love that commercial too, Poppysue............find myself humming it all the time, as I mark off the calendar, like a prisoner!! I love them to death, my grandchildren, but 3 months of 24/7 sibling rivalry wears an old folk down. My sweethearts go back Aug. 19, and they really can't wait!!!
They want to see all their friends again, and get back in a routine where everything is fresh and new.

Evert, I am surprised! I would have thought you were one of those guys who really liked it and led every class. But it does slow you down in your own pursuits, and you are probably bored because you are so intelligent they can't make lesson plans that keep you challenged. Hang in there, it's good for character building, learning how to deal with things we dislike and making them produce a positive result for us.

Helsinki, Finland(Zone 4b)

Nonono, I am certanily not one of the best, I hate maths, swedish, sports etc stupid.

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Evert are your parents going to be jumping for joy when you start school! ;o)

Helsinki, Finland(Zone 4b)

Why? :}

Brooklet, GA(Zone 8a)

Mine went back on wednesday the 7th. but i guess because they are 12 and 17 now i actually miss them. i can remember the days of yelling that goodness FREEDOM though.lol

Grove City, OH(Zone 6a)

Oh Evert, I was once in your position: I hated school (at least my school) it was so boring, I really hated many of my classes, all they wanted me to do was to memorize, not to LEARN, to know, to enjoy.

But once you are free of the school, I hope you re-learn the joys of learning. Of knowing. Of becoming. I hope you have a good teacher this year who can kindle some of the old fires you had for some of the subjects. I didn't get that until University and after; I hope you have better luck with your high school.

Funny, I loved math in school until University Calculus. I was one of those odd-balls who actually loved algebra and geometry and trig and statistics and all those other hated classes. I hope you also will discover how much fun they really are. Math was one of the few subjects I enjoyed in high school, until my final year (and teacher :(

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

Jaden is definitely ready to go back to school. This summer has been very tiring for him because he had a full time job and we have been house building every spare minute. He starts football practice on the 15th, and school starts the 22nd. He's 14 though and great help, so I'm not too anxious for school to start.

However, when we had 5 kids at home, all within 6 years of each other, I was definitely ready for school to start about a month beforehand.

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

I teach school and I am NOT ready. It has been the most glorious summer here - hot and dry (we do need some more rain tho) When the days get cold and rainy and gray, then I will be ready. Wonder how many sick days I can use working in the garden. ha ha

Crossville, TN

When my children were young I looked forward to the colors turning in the fall....but nothing was lovelier than that yellow school bus TURNING the corner!!! LOL...My DGS starts the 2nd grade on Aug. 15th. Mom/DD is looking forward to that time too.

Sarv48...I used to think teachers really hated for school to be OUT! But I know better now...now that I got past 4th grade. Jo

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

So happy for all you mothers who will soon or now have your little time of freedom. I remember how it was to have that voice saying, "Mom, I'm hungry." every hour or so all summer. He grew up to 6 foot 5 inches tall with all that food too. :) Now he is thinking of becoming a science teacher himself. So enjoy your freedoms and think of the future, times when you can be yourself and not worried about that next "Mom". Lani
