virus

I keep getting returned mail that I haven't sent and I know they aren't coming from my computer because I have only a couple of listing in my address book since I just got it back from the shop. The messages all say that I possible have a virus and the message from me was found to be infected witha virus. I think the virus is sending things from someone else's computer and using my address. The messages are to a Steve Hilyard that works at cisco. Also several of the mails are to various people at winterberry farms. If any one knows anything about these they need to check the computer for a virus. I have never sent mail to any of these listings.

Winterberry Farms was where the last hosta liner CoOp came from.......Jim, I think you need to post this in the CoOp forum!!!

I, too, am getting some pretty strange reports in my mail, like several dozen a day. I had a friend who emailed me and my ISP told me the mail contained a virus. They notified her, and I did, as well. She is not computer literate beyond being able to type and send things, more or less, but I sent her the AVG. She reported back that her daughter had run it and found two viruses and it was all taken care of. But I am still getting numerous reports that I have been sent a virus, and yesterday I received a report that I had sent an infected message. Norton checks every message that goes in or out, so I am stunned. Today I will call my ISP for advice. But I don't know the people who are supposed to be sending these recent messages. I am afraid there is some middle stage, when she has sent me mail, it has gone on to other computers, maybe via her address book, and the user isn't protected. I lose track of what can happen, but it seems it all started with my friend and now is coming around in a circle. BTW, the two involved are Klez and Exploit, don't remember which exact versions of these.

Klez was the one I keep getting. Today I got one returned from hyattlawnandgarden@mciworld.com
Seems most of the messages are to plant related business's and that is why I think someone at Dave's that has me in their address book has the virus and it is using my
address from their computer to send messages to others in their address book. Who knows.Aimee I know I haven't sent any of these messages. They aren't actually receiving because my virus proection is catching them.

Like you said, Jim, your address was probably put into the "reply-to" on the victim's infected e-mails, so the bounces and error messages are going to you instead of to the actual infected party.
