A card for an ill member

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

I wasn't sure where to post this but since I'm going to post an address I thought this was an appropriate forum.
Iris who many of you have met at the roundup has found out she is very ill. She will be in the hospital this week having tests done.(Please see the prayer forum). She would love to get some cards from her friends here at Dave's to help give her the strength and hope to fight this. If anyone would like to send her a card her address is:

Snowhermit, will someone be able to get her PO mail to her in the hospital? I will get a card to her today, but not sure when she will receive them, at home or in the hospital. I know how much everyone needs a lot of encouragement while confined.

lupinelover, I think her DH will bring them to her. She is really down and needs some encouragement. I feel so sad. Wish there was more I could do.

My card will go out in today's mail; can you go visit her yourself, or are there any other members close enough? Please let her know many of us are thinking of her and praying for her.

I have been so down about this since I got her email this morning. I feel so bad and wish I were closer to help her. Any ideas of what we could do for her? I've added her to my prayer list and she will remain there forever. Other than that, I feel very helpless here.

Me too Joan. I told her I would come down if she needed anything at all. I'm not sure exactly where she lives but I know I could find it. She may want to be alone for awhile too. Hard to know but she knows if she wants a shoulder I am only a few hrs away.

May I add a little praise for all of you? When I was suddenly faced with the news that I had a few months to live, which was now over a year and a half ago, I was comforted more than I would ever have believed possible by the cards sent to me by one of my mother's neighbors, her Sunday School class and a woman from Garden Web. You are all embarking on a mission of mercy, class A. It really does matter that you send cards, that you jot a few loving or funny or hopeful words often. It becomes such a warm spot in the day when you are going through that private hell. And I truly believe it helps the healing process to receive all that love. BTW, it bears mentioning that one of the things that meant the most to me was when the woman from Garden Web sat down and designed and sewed caps for me, soft pretty hats to cover my bald, cold, sensitive head. We have never met, but she is and will always be an angel to me. So give yourselves a pat on the back as you do what DGers do best.

I just saw this and will start cards right away...Thanks for letting us know..vic

I want to bump this back to the top. I talked to Iris tonight and the cards really mean allot to her. They are keeping her spirits up. She is a gutsy gal and hanging on to her faith that things will be ok. She needs us now to be here for her. Something as simple as a little card can sure pick ya up when you need it.

(Zone 5a)

Mystic I have already mailed mine to her and she still is in my prayers.
