Once we receive a request for someone to send a sase for seeds or plants how long should we hold those items waiting on the sase?????

Hi jcf - if it has been awhile - check back with them and let them know you have someone else interested in the seeds. If you still don't receive the SASE, let them know you are sending them to someone else. I think that is fair.

jcf, to add to RiseAnn's comments, there is no "set" time limit to wait. Like most traders, I try to put my SASE or trades in the mail the same day if I can (it cuts down on the number of things I have to remember, LOL!) and definitely within 2-3 days after the trade is confirmed. If something keeps me from doing that, I try to follow up with an e-mail to apologize for running behind, and let them know when to expect an envelope from me.

If you're looking for something more concrete, I'd say that if you've waited two weeks or more (and it's not an international trade), you should e-mail them and ask them if they still want the seeds, and set a time limit to receive their SASE, after which you're going to offer the seeds to someone else (especially if you had others you turned away because you were holding these seeds for the no-show.) Others might disagree with that kind of "cut and dried" approach, but IMHO, trading shouldn't become a hassle for either side, and setting time limits helps you to avoid loose ends.

A shameless plug for Dave's Trade-Tracker - I find it really helpful to be able to check on my trades (in and out), and follow up with traders via e-mail on any status updates or questions I have. The online system has made trading very easy for me, and helped me keep good records without a lot of headache.

Thank you both I felt as you did but I wanted to be sure I was being fair. Several are fixing to hear from me.
