to Maine. Here we are - Me, Lauren, Cala, & Carol. Jo came later after visiting with some friends. This is the first time I have met REAL-LIFE DGers. What a gang of sweet gals!. Seems like I've known all of them forever. We chatted about garden stuff, took a bumpy, cold ride on Sebago Lake, and came back to stuff ourselves with lobster. Mannn - can Jo pack em away!! ;) She tried to stuff the leftovers in her purse but the others wouldn't let her back in the car until she ditched them.
I had a great day and it was so nice to finally meet them. They'll be departing in the morning and heading to Snowhermit's. They sure have lots of energy. I think my batteries would have run out a few hunded miles ago!
They made it.
oh, I wanted to be in that picture!!!!!! you all look great, so glad you had a good time.
Isn't it nice to meet Dgers and you do feel like you have known them forever! After meeting some at Callaway Gardens it was so nice...
I'm so glad ya'll had a good time together!
P.S. Poppy... my wedding bells are not seeding well! Will let you know!
Cheers!
Rebecca
Great pic! I think this is the first time I've seen a picture of you Sue. This looks like it's a very fun trip. I wish I could do something like that. Maybe someday I will.
Woohoo!!! Can't wait for them to get here.
Nice to see you Poppysue. Looks like you all had a blast.
By the way, Sue, I got some Alpine Poppy seeds for next year. Do you have any that you can post of picture of? I checked the Plants Database and there is no picture.
Sue, I declare, ya look just like a teenager!! Sounds like an absolutely heavenly day. I'll bet that cool Maine air was a total delight to the weary wanderers!! Great Pic!

Not quite a teenager anymore - lol. They did enjoy the cool weather. Cala & Carol called their hubbies last night and both said it was 90s & humid at home. It barely hit 70 here. They timed it just right too - I think we're gonna get a few days of hot sticky temps now.
What a GREAT picture and it's so nice to meet you Poppysue. You are so young and beautiful! So glad that you are all having a wonderful time. Hey Carol! Isn't that my shirt???? LOL - Hugs to all!
What a great shot!!!!! Glad to see all of your smiling faces!!!!!!

Hi, gals! Nice to see you finally, Poppysue! Why did I think you were blonde?
That sure is a great pic. So nice to meet ya at last Poppysue. Sounds like Jo was trying to eat all that lobster for me.lol
Blonde?? maybe cuz I can be pretty darn air-headed at times? They all said - they had me pegged for being 50 yrs old.
Mystic - I think you'd starve to death if Jo was eating for you. She eats less than a bird. That must be how she keeps that girlish figure.... that & road-running!
Hi Poppysue - you really are a neat surprise, why do I think all of us are old & fat till I meet em!!! Maybe it's because we all spend so much time sitting at the puter, I think everyone is retired.
Im jealous! Good for you guys. I don't usually go past Belfast though. Maybe next year we should think about organizing a Maine get together with Family members. Sounds like you had fun! Great shot. I don't know what any of you look like but the first one with the long dark hair looks like my 13 year old.
that's poppysue:) then Lauren, Cala, and Carol.
Then it's poppysue that looks like my Stacy.
it just isn't fair to have those gorgeous gardens and look so good too!!!!
Fairyhunter...I was hoping that you would post and come out to meet with us too....sorry we missed seeing you. Are you near Portland? Jo
welll , both ladies on each end have long dark hair???
poppy's on the left
Great pic! Everyone is looking happy! As for that poppysue, hah!...I had her pegged to be an old wise sage that had been gardening since shep was a pup! (Come on youngin'...what did you do w/the REAL poppysue!?)
I coulda skipped the boat ride but sure would've loved to get in on that lobstah pig-out!
Shoe, I had her pictured all wrong too!! I thought she was old and much larger!! She just seems older cause she's knowledgeable.(she's a good cook too)
lol Shoe - me too for the lobster as long as someone else cooks it!!! How come then I always thought Poppysue was young and beautiful. See...... knew I was right!!!
I tell ya........she's done had all that beauty makeover stuff done...imagine a brain like that in a youngster!!!
"eyes"
reckon she gets it from eating lobster? what's yer secret poppysue? (I hear rumour has it that she really is 70 or so, just held up nicely, eh?)
And by the way, don't remember hearing how you got your DG name. Spill it!
Nice to see you all, and I must tag on with the others, or most of them, in thinking that Poppysue was older.
Well, well, well!!
Wintermoor
Shoooot!!! I'm just a pup! I dunno why everyone thinks I'm an old maid. As for the name.... there's not much to spill. Poppy ... because I like poppies. No secrets there.
Shoe - you may get your lobsters... yet. We're working on it.
lobstah? somebody say lobstah??? Hm.....
Sue, every time I see your DG name, I think "Poppysue Got Married", LOL. It's not a bad association to have.
I do, too, GW. One of my favorite movies is 'Peggy Sue got married.'
I don't get it?? Guess I didn't see the movie. That reminds me tho... our anniversary is coming up... A BIG 10 years. I wonder if DH will remember. I spose I should start dropping hints NOW!
I'm sure GW was just thinking about the similarity of the names: poppysue/peggysue. At least that's what I was thinking about. No deep meaning here. It's a fun little movie about a woman who goes to her class reunion, and something happens that she goes back in time to age 18, as a high school senior. But she still has the wisdom and experience that she has earned. She gets to see her granny who had passed on. She goes to class with her young friends and she says the Pledge of Allegiance with all her heart, and the other students look at her funny. It's a really good, feel good, movie.
Yep, that's where I was coming from. We've been married 10 years, too, Poppysue. Leapday 1992. :)
Gw, I bet I know why you picked Leapday to get married: that way Howie has legitimate excuse to forget anniversary 3/4 years! LOL.
Poppysue, you are as young as I pictured you, but I thought you would have bright red hair (poppy-red).
No one has mentioned yet, who is giving Cala bunnyears? I can't tell from the photo! Can't be horns, such a lovely lady.
It's my daughter Lauren that gives me bunnyears whenever someone takes our picture together.
We're here at GW's now, on the last leg of our journey.
I got her back! I got her back! I got her back! Not sure whose camera it was, but I got her back! One of the few photos of me I didn't hate having taken!
Hey gang, I am so glad that you all made it safe and sound. Poppy it is so nice to meet you.
Poppysue, thank you for a great visit. The boat ride may have been a bit bumpy, but I enjoyed every minute of it! Your gardens are absolutely beautiful and I am jealous that you can get lobsters so cheap. I noticed it was getting hot and humid the day we left - we didn't bring that with us I promise we didn't! It was such a pleasure meeting you and your DH. I hope we can convince you to head south sometime.
