Cricket - achievement, news

Mysore, India(Zone 10a)

Those who know the game of Cricket will easily understand this piece of information. I was in the news last month and an article had appeared in the local paper. I'm happy to share it here, this being a rare achievement in the game. It took me 24 years to reach this milestone of 1000 wickets, playing amateur cricket, mostly on weekends. I have this habit of keeping track of my performances and this has helped me become aware of this milestone. I have been a fast bowler all through, still playing. Our club is an old one - estd. 1936. I recently learnt that my grandfather also used to be part of this club - he was also a renown tennis player in his days and also good at other sports.

I humbly acknowledge with thanks your appreciation, friends. In fact, the match I crossed the landmark was lost by our team and so I maintained a low key. Told only the captain and a couple of other seniors. I was unhappy we had lost. The team comes ahead of the individual.

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

Yes congratulations, but i wonder how our American friends really know about criket, i mean do they know what silly mid off means, shucks it would puzzle them. Watch the criket highlights this evening, England V India.

Let's just hope for poor old England's sake, that Dinu isn't bowling.

HOWZAT!!!

Thanks Wintermoor, you seem to know some cricket!
Another piece of information:
Some of you have heard of the Indian fast bowler Javagal Srinath. In fact, he belongs to our club - The Mysore Gymkhana and in one of the speeches last year, he told the audience that I am his mentor and that he has learnt a lot from me. I used to field near to him to give tips when he was bowling. He began his cricket with us and rose with us (he is 9 yrs younger to me). He still comes to meet us.

Jesteburg-Wiedenhof, Germany(Zone 8a)

I've heard of him of course Dinu, but I've not seen any cricket in the last years since it is neither played nor shown here in Germany.

Nice win for India against England. Looks like Ganguly, Dravid and Yuvraj Singh tore them apart, winning by six wickets, and that with seven balls remaining.

Well done

That was magnificient Cricket and I did watch that night. But yesterday, India has lost the Test Match at Lord's. I vaguely remember that Germany also has a cricket team which plays in the qualifying rounds of the ICC Trophy. (?) Holland has one.
