I wont be back

Jesteburg-Wiedenhof, Germany(Zone 8a)

for a day or two folks!!

We have had five days of torrential rain here in Hamburg, and one of the dykes on the River Elbe started to slide over a length of 55 metres. This dyke is very close to a friend's house, and so I went over to help shore it up, and then help the army to strengthen the dyke until the worst is over.

The rain has stopped today for the first time in five and a half days, and it wasn't just normal rain showers, but non-stop torrential rain 24 hours a day. This is the first time I've been home since I left, and I've just had my first shower since then also..... Pew!!

So it's a change of clothes, kiss the family and back out again. I'll be back on again probably Monday or Tuesday, since I'll be working with the authorities in shoring the dyke, until the rain warnings have gone.

Talk again soon

All the best

Like Kathy, I thought you were leaving the garden. Glad we were wrong. You are such a good citizen and a priceless friend. I know your family is very proud of what you are doing, and I even feel a little pride myself! Be careful, and we will be here when you return. And I shall be wearing a smile, having received your second sweet gift.
