for a day or two folks!!
We have had five days of torrential rain here in Hamburg, and one of the dykes on the River Elbe started to slide over a length of 55 metres. This dyke is very close to a friend's house, and so I went over to help shore it up, and then help the army to strengthen the dyke until the worst is over.
The rain has stopped today for the first time in five and a half days, and it wasn't just normal rain showers, but non-stop torrential rain 24 hours a day. This is the first time I've been home since I left, and I've just had my first shower since then also..... Pew!!
So it's a change of clothes, kiss the family and back out again. I'll be back on again probably Monday or Tuesday, since I'll be working with the authorities in shoring the dyke, until the rain warnings have gone.
Talk again soon
All the best
Wintermoor

Oh, man! How awful about the rain and the dyke! But wonderful that you're going to help. Please stay safe and come back to your family at home and your family here soon.
Off to find some news reports...
Please take care and be safe. You are doing a wonderful thing helping out and I hope all are safe . Hurry back and let us know all is well.
Oh, Wintermoor, when I first saw the title I thought you were leaving DG for good! Don't scare me like that :)
I am sure your friends are very fortunate to have such a good friend; be careful and come back home safe and sound. Please let us know how you are doing.
Kathy
Like Kathy, I thought you were leaving the garden. Glad we were wrong. You are such a good citizen and a priceless friend. I know your family is very proud of what you are doing, and I even feel a little pride myself! Be careful, and we will be here when you return. And I shall be wearing a smile, having received your second sweet gift.
Wow - you're in our thoughts and prayers there, friend. Thanks for letting us know so we wouldn't fret at your sudden and conspicuous absence!
Can't you just see me trying to figure out how to get the local police to go to check on Wintermoor and SWMBO?
