I love potatoes any way you can fix them! beans go with anything....corn...and not to forget tomatoes,onions,garlic,bellpeppers...

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Home grown tomatoes and corn in summer, also sugar snap peas and asparagus.

Brownfield, ME(Zone 4b)

green beans! especially the italian flat beans, great steamed then add olive oil when hot and a little fresh basil and serve cold I don't cut them and we eat them with our fingers I have to keep reminding my daughter we only do this at home.

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

I can't think of a vegetable I don't like, but the favorites that I wait for every year are:
Asparagus
Tomatoes
Zucchini
Jalapeno Peppers

Fried green tomatoes, asparagus, artichokes and mushrooms.

Potatoes, can't beat a good tattie dish with your dinner. Sweet corn is the other I will go out of my way to eat.

I'll eat most vegetables mainly because I have to if I want to keep my diet varied but I can't say I actually enjoy eating them. I do like growing them though even if the results are 'variable' to say the least LOL.

I much prefer to eat fresh fruit than veg (except strawberries ... blech!)

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

I love potatoes, any way you slice 'em. Or don't slice 'em. And asparagus spears send me into a delirious spin. :)

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

I love artichokes, asparagus, tomatoes, cukes, lettuce, broccoli, fresh green beans....all kinds of green beans, we just dont get enough variety in this area.....I miss fresh back eyed peas (when they are green - not dried)
love eggplant.....yellow peppers....red peppers, orange peppers, and green peppers
potatoes are a good comfort food - cooked any way, but just boiled with a little olive oil and vinegar...yum yum

Spring Hill, FL(Zone 9a)

Fresh tomatoes are #1, then blue lake beans, beets, sweet corn, peppers, onions, asparagus, sweet corn, cabbage, carrots, blueberries. rhubarb, summer squash, zucchini and blueberries. that's all I have room to grow until next year when I hope to expand the vegie garden a little.

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

Oh, I forgot beets. I only plant enough for a couple big kettles of borscht soup, but oh, is it yummy!

(Zone 5a)

I love all veggies but I really love grilled pepper both hot and sweet and grilled corn...yum, yum, I want some.

Spicewood, TX(Zone 8b)

Snow peas, asparagus, mushrooms (a veggie?), cabbage and broccoli! I could eat any one of those for a complete meal, yummy!!

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

Here called Veggie shorter instead spell long vegetable

Rethymno, Crete, Greece(Zone 10b)

egetables, as a group, offer a much greater variety of taste compared to meat, fish, dairy porducts or starches.

By far the most consumed (I imagine) is potatoes, and it is very interesting to see in how many different ways - I love them whole, beaten by a stone to burst, then a garlic clove inserted, sprinkled with salt, pepper, oregano and lemon juice, roasted with some olive oil added while they are baking, served hot.

Dimitri

For me,

Helsinki, Finland(Zone 4b)

Corn
Carrots
Potatoes (hehheh)
Broccoli
Cauliflower

I like all kinds of vegetables, just love new Finnish potatoes (very small, sweet) as boiled with some dill. Yummie. And Big tasty potatoes with fish is very good. I don't like fried potatoes very much.
The best french fries I've ever eaten were in Paris, a cafe where we could see Eiffel Tower very well. :)

I just love corn, steamed, boiled, grilled. It's soooo good.

Potatoes, fresh from the garden, boiled, roast, chipped, in salad, baked, mashed in winter and in Rösti.
Fresh garden peas (have to grow them here, can't buy them)
The first courgette (zucchini)
The first French beans, all tender and yummy
A freshly dug parsnip in winter
Brussels sprouts at Christmas, picked with frozen fingers
Sugar snaps
Freshly dug beetroot
Home-grown onions, shallots and garlic
Chillies
My mouth's watering!
Now you know why I have a garden!

Helsinki, Finland(Zone 4b)

I like röstiperunat (Rösti Potatoes) too.. did you happen to know they are Finnish? =)

Versailles, CT(Zone 7a)

Evert

Don't tell that to a Swiss as they are one of the national dishes! !

Rösti is served with Zürcher Geschnetzeltes (chopped lean veal in a wine and cream sauce) or sausages in onion gravy. Various cantonal versions add onion, bacon, top with cheese, top with egg, etc.

How do you make Rösti in Finland? Here you par-boil potatoes then grate on a coarse grater. Season. Melt butter in a pan and add the grated potato, press it down and then weight it down with a plate or similar. When cooked, either turn it over to brown the other side or slide on to a plate, browned side up.

Are we talking about the same thing?

Helsinki, Finland(Zone 4b)

I think it is not all the same, it is also called rösti here (I think it is made the Swiss way). Rösti in finland isn't so flat and sometimes it is made of a kind of potato paste. Anyway, I call it rösti too :} I like the Swiss ones more though..

Sharpsville, PA(Zone 5a)

stri fry fresh green beans in olive oil with fresh garlic. serve over pasta with fresh parm. YUMM
