If you could buy only one plant what would it be??????

Plymouth, MI(Zone 6a)

On Tues. I get to go plant buying....I was sitting here thinking about what I would buy (limited budget) and started thinking about what everyone would get if they were limited to one plant. Soooooooo hard!!!!!!!!! I think Brugs but I have to have a back up because I am a Gemini and we can never have just one of ANYTHING. Foxglove would be it if all Brugs were off the planet.. Gosh what a thought.LOL. So what would it be gang?

My first choice right now would be a blue potato bush, second would be any brug I don't have. You don't have to buy a brug, I can send you a couple for postage if you want! that would cover the two problem:)

I've been thinking about that ninebark bush someone posted a picture of awhile back, and that's first on my wishlist right now.

Helsinki, Finland(Zone 4b)

Chocolate cosmos (Cosmos atrosanguineus). I had one last year, haven't seen any for sale this year here. :(

Blum, TX(Zone 8a)

Any fruit tree, but I love bananas!

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

I really want the daylily 'Shaka Zulu'. ... I've been debating for a while now about getting it but I just can't bring myself to pay $60.

St. Thomas, ON(Zone 5b)

oooooohhhhhhhh I wouldn't be able to chose, I would hope my friends would have a varity of plants they'd want to thin out.

Ewing, KY(Zone 6a)

I don't really know of any I would have to have. I love anything I don't have. lol (pssst TiG talk to Cala about the bpb she has mine now. lol )

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

I might come spring mystic!!!

Sharpsville, PA(Zone 5a)

hydrangea. or delphiniums. . depending if I had $15.00 or $6.00. hydrangea just "do" something to me. An endorphane thing.

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

I would get a tamarisk that is already well on its way. I have tried starting from cuttings, they dies eventually. I bought a bareroot from a catalog for $25, nothing yet. I would like to go dig up my own at some nursery.

Sharpsville, PA(Zone 5a)

had to look that up in the data base. Very pretty! Is that in your yard>

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

It is in a friend at work and very hearty about 15 years old or more. I got clippings and they thrived for a few months and then I somehow killed them. Will continue to try, but the bareroot hasn't changed much so maybe Art will have to dig up some that are growing and rooted shoots.

Sharpsville, PA(Zone 5a)

best wishes with it

St. Thomas, ON(Zone 5b)

haighr I did the same as mingsmimi, and looked it up wow how pretty and my favourite colour.

Perrysburg, OH(Zone 5a)

I would like a smoke tree, My great aunt had one that was about 30-35ft tall, was it ever beautiful.

Sharpsville, PA(Zone 5a)

BJT72. let me give you teh address of the lady across teh street from me. She hates hers. She wacked it down to the earth this Soring and its coming back. She would LOVE it if you took it.

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

I really like the tamarix, hope I soon get one going or will have to do as this post and find one thriving to purchase. Maybe the bareroot I planted will take off next year.
Tell your neighbor mings you can't even get rid of them if you burn them. Tell her to e-mail and send all the cuttings and/or root diggings she can, I'll pay the postage. Would really like someone to dig up some shoots from the main plant with good root system.
Thanks, Candee

Sharpsville, PA(Zone 5a)

Okay! I am on my way to work and wont be home till late tonite. and I won;t see her for a dy or 2. but I will tell her. ;)

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

Thanks mings!

The top one my list right now is Astrantia Major but it is only good to zone 7 so it may be too warm here. The second would be any lily...I find I'm falling in love with them.

Either a well developed clematis or several more bluberry bushes.

For me, knowing that there are so many wonderful plants out there is enough to satisfy my interest. Give me a book full of interesting plants and I'm as happy as Larry. Having them reside in the garden is just a bonus to being a gardener.

Sharpsville, PA(Zone 5a)

haighr... how should I take the cuttings. Don;t know about getting a root thing.

High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

1st choice would be ISMENE CALATHINA - SPIDER LILY or PERUVIAN DAFFODILS, 2nd choice would be EUCOMIS - PINEAPPLE LILY would be my choice/s :)!

(Zone 5a)

If I had a choice of only one plant it would have to be a Anjyu, it's beauty just takes my breath away.

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

Mings, if there is run off shoot that can be dug up with a little root just wrap in wet paper it will mail okay. As for cuttings, from the main plant that are about as big around as your little finger and about 8" in length. I appreciate your help, but don't put yourself out if it is too much bother.
