Copyrights: You now have a choice

This afternoon I finished the programming of the new copyright code. This puts the watermark decision in your hands: You can decide what kinds of copyrights you want.

Go here to learn more: http://davesgarden.com/copyrightprefs.php

...or, click on "Preferences" and then "Copyrights".

Have fun!

Sure do like #1 and #3. I think #2 just takes too much away from the picture. You've done a great job Dave and it seems you've done everything in your power to protect the rights of the members. Now you deserve a pat on the back for a job well done.

Yes, #1 is very nice, clean, and elegant. It's the default choice for all members. Number 3 is also nice - I solved the translucency problem - it's not 100% spot-on but it's pretty daggone good, if-i-do-say-so-myself.

Thank you very much Dave, for all that you do!

Beautiful. Well done!

Yes sir, Dave... good job! I like all three, and think it was a good idea to create them. Even with #2, it's possible to use the image for comparison if trying to identify a particular plant. All three eliminate the possibility of somebody taking my uploaded images and using them as their own.

yAy Dave!

Very good! (That man is Scary, folks! Where does he come up with this stuff!!?)

I don't post many pics here but glad to once again see that we us feel safe here.

Much obliged, Dave!

Wonderful! Great idea, Dave.

Thank you! Yes, I like this blue one better :) If the font would be Trebuchet it would be excellent :]

Great solution to the problem. Thanks Dave.

Ewing, KY(Zone 6a)

I like the default one you still see the pic and its still protected. I have no problem with my pics they are nothing great but I can understand why some would be upset. Thanks Dave for trying to protect us all.

Great job Dave!I feel that you have gone above and beyond the call of duty.No other place that I know of could come up with great solutions so quickly. This gives us choices, and everyone can select the one that suits them best.

There are going to be dishonest creeps who would still rather try to steal something as opposed to asking, but they are few and far between. This protects us as much as one can be protected here on the web.

Since about noon, when I made this change, 9 people have changed their copyright preferences.

5 are going with Option 3 (the translucent copyright). An excellent choice.

Surprisingly, 4 chose to completely disable the mark completely. The funny thing is, giving the option to disable the mark was an afterthought for me... I just threw it in there just in case anyone would want it.

Well, exercise complete!

I like it Dave - it's not intrusive at all!!

cool that works i like 1 and 2 the second one is not that bad as the lettering is thin and there is no block behind it

Castelnau RB Pyrenée, France(Zone 8a)

That's great Dave, I'm going to try #3. Is it possible to put this on photos posted in the past, or only on ones from now on?

Just from now on, philomel.

Castelnau RB Pyrenée, France(Zone 8a)

OK, thanks

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Maybe I don't surf the 'net enough anymore to have a good basis for comparison, but I can't imagine any other website offering its users these choices for copyright protection. That's just awesome :)

Castelnau RB Pyrenée, France(Zone 8a)

Totally agree go-vols, it really is superb.

philomel: I should add the reason why you can't retroactively change all your past pictures...

When I add a watermark to a picture here on DG - it's permanant. I don't keep around the old picture - it's deleted immediately and the marked image is all that I have left.

Thus, I can't remove the old marks and replace them with new ones. I could go through and -add- a second mark to all your pictures, but I don't think you'd want that. :)

Yes Dave i understand. I was overlooking the fact that you have already put the copyright mark on them all anyway. Short term memory problem on my part LOL
