I have one question.

(Zone 5a)

Once you've seen all the pictures on the first page of the photo forum and go to the next page, then post something on a picture in the second page, why doese it always take you back to the first page instead of the page you were on?

Villa Rica, GA(Zone 7a)

ooo I think I know..I think its b/c like everytime you post on something it goes back to the front page it's kinda like bringing it back up as new again, then when someone else comes along and post's another pic then your pic is shuffled to the 2nd spot...and then a 3rd person does the same thing, and by posting to their pic, it puts your post at #3 and the more pics that are posted on the further down in the pile they go, until you post to it again therefore bringing it back to the first spot again....I think! Don't hold me to that though hee hee

MollyBee, I think you're right! But, we'll wait until someone "in the know" posts an answer for sure.

Kit, when u post a respond, click to send. the next screen would give u the option to 'Watch this thread', then the next window that opens will either be 'go back to the thread u just posted' [this takes u back to thread u responded.] or 'go back to the forum' [this takes u back to the forum where u just responded].

what u probably did was click "Dave's Garden' or 'Home" on the right panel of the screen. this brings u back to the main forum.

these are my personal observation. if i am mistaken, i stand corrected. maybe someone can give a better response.

Kit -- Just hit back a couple or three times at the point where you get the choices to watch, go back to the forum, etc. That'll get you right back to where you came from. :)

High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

that is true GW, but she will not see the response she posted.

(Zone 5a)

No you don't understand what I am saying. What I mean if I see a picture on page 4 and I want to post a comment to it and hit send,I then click on the return to the forum. I end up on the first page instead of on page 4 where I was at, so then I have to keep clicking next page to get back were I was before making the post. I do understand about bumping a photo back to the first page, but I would like to be able to go back to the page that I was viewing instead of having to do all that clicking to get back to it,sometime this takes so long that I just quit trying.

wind,

Yes, it sends you back to the front page of the forum, because the thread you just posted also was sent to the top of the front page.

However, if you were a few pages down in the forum and you want to return to that (rather than the top again), just hit your back arrow a couple times till you are back.

Alternatively (and this is what I do) - when you want to view a thread (and/or reply) open the thread in a new window. Then, when you are done with that thread, close that window and the original threadlist is still right where you left it.

Hope that helps,
dave

It sure does, thank you. :}

I forgot about the right-click/open in new window thingie - that's the best way!

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

I'm so accustomed to using the right-click to open a new window, I was in a real bind yesterday when Dave was "inflicting" the no-right-click on us. (I'm sure glad he didn't decide to make it permanent!!!)

Definitely, vols.

BTW - Here's a tip. Hold the shift-key and then click regular-like. That's a shortcut to open a new window in IE.

That way you don't have to waste time with the right-menu.

Cool - learn something new every day!
You can also hit CTRL+Enter when you type in a site name (davesgarden, for example) and it automatically adds the http : / / and the .com at the end.

Spicewood, TX(Zone 8b)

Neato! I like to open new windows, so I'm a right-clicker, too. That shift-click thing is too cool! Gotta' go try it out some more...

And GW, I type pretty fast, but Kenny sure will benefit from that tip! Can't wait to tell him. He's not much on "talking" on the 'puter 'cause he does the hunt-and-peck thing. I gotta' find an online typing course for him.

Spicewood, TX(Zone 8b)

Oh, GW, you are too awesome! I think now would be the time to get him started on that typing thing, seeing's how he's chained to the house for the next couple weeks. ;) Thanks, girl! And it was just so easy to open all those links ~ shift-click, shift-click, shift-click! LOL!

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Well, ain't that slick (*grin*) Thanks!!!

(Zone 5a)

Dave it doesn't seem to work in IE 5.0. I tried the right click and this is what I see, back, slecet all, creat a short cut,add to favorites, view source, endcoding, view source, print refresh, translate page with worldlingo.com, and properties.

When I hold the shift key down this is what I see; copy, select all, print and translate selection with worldlingo.com. I am of course using the right click, I am so lost????

Spicewood, TX(Zone 8b)

Wind, hold the shift key down and left click. I have IE 5.0 and that works for me! you get "translate page" by shift-right click? ANOTHER neat-o!

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

When I hold the shift key down and left click, it just highlights everything. I think I'm using IE 6.0, but not real sure.

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

I have 6.0 and it does do the Select All function when you do that, plus it brings up the normal right-click context menu. Good to know. That translate thing must be something having to do with software which translates languages, maybe? Or a website that does?

(Zone 5a)

Wingnut when I hold the shift key down and click on the outside of the posts nothing happens, but if I click on the inside of the post it turns everything blue?

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

You have to be hovering over a hyperlink when you do the shift+LEFT click. If you're just over text, it highlights text.

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

Ah! That helps a lot Kimberley, thanks.

Spicewood, TX(Zone 8b)

Yah, what GW said ~ you have to be clicking on a link while holding down "shift" for it to open the link in a new window, Wind. :) Does it work now?

BTW, now that I think about it, I may not have IE 5.0 ~ just got this new computer a month or so ago, so whatever version comes with Windows XP is what I have.

(Zone 5a)

yes it does work if I click on a hyperlink. When I am surffing through the photo forum it doesn't help open a nother window becase not all of them have a hyper link. I know how to open another window but in a different way than explained here.

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Not all of the ones in the photo forum have a hyperlink? What do you mean? Ya lost me there, Kit.

(Zone 5a)

Read the top and you'll understand what I was trying to find out. I think I got it straighten out.
