What happened Dave.

since noontime, Pacific time till 3:30 p.m., i could not access ur site. i get error message "Server could be down, try again later."

i am able to get in a few minutes ago. did ur system crash? just wondering.

Yes, I had the same problem as well and finally put 2 and 2 together.

I was going through daves withdrawal - don't let anybody say it isn't real!

Come on, out with it! It has been more than half an hour since the first query and still no response? What .new. things have you been doing? I too was unable to sign on, tried from about 3 til 4 pm EDT.

I just now got on. I kept restarting my computer.lol. So glad to have the site back up and running.

i cleared history, dish cache, defrag, name it i did it all. reboot my computer several times. even wrote some DG members trying to find out if i am the only one. even check for virus. nothing doing, which is why i thought maybe Dave's system must have crash. hope not.

i beat Dave is still trying to work on minor details. let's not try to get on Dave's case. be glad we are all able to get back on DG. patience! not really easy to contend with when one is trying to get on line. look at the positive side gals/guys. we are back on line. am sure soon as Dave got himself out of the mess he will respond. good luck Dave!

Well, I'm not Dave, so all I can tell you is I was unable to log in around 2:00 CT. I let Dave know there was a problem with the site, and he discovered something was "hogging" the server (like a search engine indexing the site too fast.)

Sorry for the withdrawal pangs (I had 'em too!) and I'm sure when Dave has everything back to normal he'll fill us in on the details.

I'm afraid that there was no good reason for the server downtime today. I wasn't on the server at the time (I was mowing) and actually didn't even know it was down until go_vols called me on the phone to alert me.

Well, I still don't know exactly what happened. I had to page the ISP sysadmins to get them to reboot my box... that's something that I've never had to do once in the entire history of DG... A formal investigation has begun.

Whew! Around that time my DH told me he had the home network back up and running. First thing was email and then off to DG. Clicked on the favorites, off to DG...File Not Found?????? Honey, Somethings wrong with my internet connection!!! Fix it!! (Did I even think to check on other sites? NOT!)

shuttlebunny.........LOL.......that is what I do..........anything wrong on the computer and you can hear me yelling.....TOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM and the poor guy comes through each time even though I act like it is all his fault and he is not fixing it fast enough! What a guy!

Still having some problem...Dave's keeps timing out.

Glory, I added a few indexes this morning to the forums databases, so that should really speed things up.

It's a constant task - keeping the site optimized when we get an average of 1,000 posts a day! Oofta! :-)

we should be zipping along this morning. Anyone else moving slowly? If yes, what part of the site is slow?

this is the first time I've been able to get on since yesterday morning at an early hour. I was without DG all day Sunday and this morning - boy was I getting lonesome for everybody! I haven't had time in the last week to check in much and then not being able to at all just about sent me over an edge! Glad to be back !!!

I didn't know what to think when I couldn't get in on Sunday so I sent you a letter. I thought something was wrong on my end.
I do have problems with it being slow sometimes but I just thought that it was because so many were trying to access the same thread.

I was worried too.....tried to access the site....

A DG member had alerted me about the 'downtime' by e-mail. Looking at the e-mail is the first thing I do before I enter the DG. I got anxious at that time and was wondering about any major electronic mishap. Good that it was all working fine (but a bit slow I thought) yesterday. Heaved a sigh of relief!
