Member's Portait Page?

Iola, WI

Hey Dave, (more handsome than I thought a computer geek would be! ;),
Have you considered this idea? Another site I belong to (there are other places on the internet??? Gasp!!) has a photo gallery of their members. Totally voluntary but well participated. Our DG'ers are so far flung around the world, it may be the only chance we get to see any of them!
Here's the link for the main page of the photo gallery. It has the links for pics of the members, mods and other pics the members have sent in. http://home.connectnet.com/woolie/
The pages with the pics load REALLY slow, but I'm betting that you have some magic up your sleeve that would take care of that!

(Yup, I'm there, same name all over the internet. I've never seen it duplicated!)

Third Age used to have a gallery, and it was good to be able to go there and read the bios when you first joined or were getting acquainted with someone you liked a lot. I don't know if they are still online or not. I don't recall that it was especially slow, although my perspective has changed since the first little 14K venture into cyberspace. I really have enjoyed the photos people have posted here.

We have that here on DG, too. Click on my name and you'll see a picture of me. Click on anybody's name to go to their member page. If they have uploaded a picture, it'll be there.

Want to add you own? Click on "Preferences" in the menu, then click on Picture.

Sounds good?

Of course! I don't think of it as a gallery, but you have just made it a more efficient one by incorporating it into the member's page with so much more information. I intend to include my picture as soon as I get one I think looks like me, but so far none of them accurately reproduces my stunning looks. It's been a problem all my life.

Ha! I have the exact same problem! I thought that I was the only person who suffered from this problem. Thanks! :)

See Dave! I knew you were slick! You already had it in place, I just didn't know how to get there.
Now for a really dumb question...Is there a page that explains all the ins & outs of DG for idiots like me?

Not really, shuttle. That'd be a nice thing to have, however. There sure is a lot of stuff on DG, and I don't think that there are many people who are familiar with them all... better documentation is a needed thing.

But how about for shy people like me (blush)? LOL I hate to have my picture taken! I know! I will re-post that one of my hiding behind the cushion! LOL

I have posted the one of me with my good eye shut and you can;t tell my legs are 2 different lengths and you can hardly see the hump on my back or the worts on my nose and the hairs on my lip.

And you can hardly tell that you bite your nails either!

LOL, Mimi!

Lupine, I've been thinking the same thing and perhaps have come up with the perfect solution ~ I'll stand on the other side of my milk cow, giving her a big hug while Kenny takes the pic. THAT should hide my butt! *grin!* When I was a volunteer with the local EMS, 100 lbs. ago, my butt was in the local newspaper more often than my face was. Funny ~ I didn't mind it a bit back then ...

Dig up one of those photos and post it! Would love to see you doing your job. Really. But try to find one showing at least part of your face. :)

Spicewood, TX(Zone 8b)

I would, Lupine, but I never kept any of the newspapers and never asked for copies of the pics. I imagine someone at the fire hall may have a pic or two of me doing that ~ I got out of it a couple years ago, but I'll ask next time I see the secretary. I wonder if they have the one taken at the junior rodeo some years back where I was helping package a kid who'd fallen off a bull and got his chest stepped on (he was fine afterwards). He was laying there with the wind knocked out of him, not being able to breathe, so stupid us didn't wait for them to get the bull out of the arena (they'd tried three times already). Yhe arena boys were holding him at the other end while we loaded him on the backboard to get him out of there. The picture is awesome ~ us grouped around the kid and the bull in the background at the far end, not a happy camper. I wish I had a copy of that one!

Hmmm...my head's a'thinkin'....if we put a pic on our pic page, can we change it when we like? Or are we stuck with it?

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

You can change it shoe I just changed mine.

Cool. I was thinking of having a Pic of the Week or something then. Guess I better learn how to use my member page and journal and all (what happened to the lessons we were having at one time?). Sure would be a good place to write full stories there.
