Dave, help! I can read what folks are saying but when I try to type something all I get is: blocked by a foreign host...I can't get anything to type in the line. Thanks, Lisa

it is really strange.....

Okay, well, you were chatting with no problems this morning. What happened between then and now? Have you changed ANYTHING at all on your computer since this morning?

no dave, nothing at all new. I try to type in the bar and nothing shows up. I will power down and boot back up

Rebooting is a good idea. Try again and in the meantime, I'll setup a test page for you.

Rebooting did fix Lisa's problem - I guess she forgot to come back in here and let everyone else know.

I don't know what caused it. I am suspicious of a computer that mysteriously "stops working" and requires a reboot to continue operation. Shrug.

(My computer's been running for over 150 days with no reboots!! but then again, I don't use Windows)

thanks dave, in my excitement of getting back to the chat room i forgot to update! Thanks! I too am suspicious of my computer. I've been suspicious of it since day one. I still say I have a lemon. However the company insists otherwise. Hmmm.....My husband is now a suspect along with the cat and my bird. I think they all got together and did something so I couldn't get in to Daves! LOL! just kidding

It's probably not your hardware - it's probably the software. Making stable software is one of the last priorities for Microsoft, and as a result, Windows is the buggiest piece of software ever written in the history of the modern world.

I suspect your problem is the same problem that all Windows users have - buggy software. And there isn't a dog-gone thing you can do about it as long as Microsoft has their monopoly and consumers are forced to use their shoddy products.

wow, didn't know that. I do know that before my computer crashed I never could just shut down my computer with the start button. Most of the time the "windows is shutting down" window would come up and stay. That was as far as it got to shutting down. I would then have to just power off with the power strip and the next morning 'scan disk' would run. Since I have a new hard drive that problem no longer happens. Just thought I'd mention that. Lisa
