Emu with my coffee

Living out in the country has brought lots of fun things to see,but this morning blew me away. While drinking coffee I glanced over at the neighbor's yard...there was an Emu walking around!!! I called to see if they were aware of it..they weren't and had no idea where it had come from. Can't wait till tomorrow,maybe it will still be hanging out.

It was quite funny!!! I called the sheriff's office to report and find out if anyone had called to say they were missing an Emu...the person who answered totally lost it...could hardly talk from laughing so hard!!

I bet that was a a surprise. LOL!

This reminds me of a friend of ours. One evening he was late getting home from work, so he called his wife on his cell phone to tell her he would be late. Part way through his explaination he exclaimed "Karen, a big bird just ran across the road!" She asked him if he'd been drinking. LOL! It was an emu that got away from a farm.

Ginger, ROTFLOL! I can just hear you saying, "Ah, yes, I would like to report a missing Emu.." I would probably lose it, too, if I were the one answering your call! Sounds like they are pretty tough critters after reading philomel's link... We're going to Canada this summer so I'll let you know what wildlife crosses our path there ;)

No Emu sighting today...told my son about it and he figured that maybe that was what ate all the peaches off his tree. LOL
