I'm soooo mad!!!!

Perrysburg, OH(Zone 5a)

As some of you know I had surgey last week wed. and went in having taking care of everything, a good feeling, so I had nothing to worry about. Well, I came home fri eve. I wanted to take a look in the back garden but decided to wait, I didn't wantto push myself. So sat eve I walked to the back garden and found that the guy who cuts my grass had cut down half of the flowers under my 50ft crab apple where I have as shade garden!!!!! He cut down a 4x4ft patch of obediant plant, my new splish splash geranium, vinca major from a friends Dad (who is now deceased), malva, a couple of veronicas and some columbine!!!!! He has never cut this area before it is obviously a flower bed, he has cut my lawn ($25 each time) for two years now!!! I talked to him before about cashing my checks which he likes to save and cash them all at once, thats about the only problem I've ever had with him, well he also cuts the grass whenever he feels like it and usually when I'm not home to supervise, I never know when he's going to show up and he has cut it when it wasn't even needed. I called him and told him what he had done and he said his son must of done it, that he would come take a look at it!!! I said you looking at it won't make any difference the plants have been cut to the ground!!! Then he said he wouldnt charge me for the last mowing to make up for it!!!! My plants that were over fours years old are worth much more than $25!!!! He said he would stop by on tuesday to take a look and I told that him that I probaly would not use him any longer because of his poor business practices, then he had the nerve to say "well I wish you would of opened your mouth before now" I'm so mad i could scream!!!! I just had to vent.
Thanks for listening,
Becky

You definitely need a new person to mow for you! This is sad, and I would be upset too. I hope things grow back better than ever. Take care of yourself.

I am so sorry. He needs to give you a year's worth of money back. $25 doesn't cover much at the nursery these days.

Oh, BJT! The nerve of some people!! If were you, I'd let him come over and see the damage "his son" did. Maybe it will teach him a lesson to keep a closer eye on the kid and save someone else the pain you're going through now. I wish I could say more!

Oh Becky, I think I would have just sat right down and cried. AND then gotten really, reallllllly MAD.
I am so sorry for you. Hopefully they will all come back, especially your vinca major.

Well, it's Saturday and I've heard nothing from the lawn guy yet, but he did cash my last check!!!

Toadsuck, TX(Zone 7a)

Becky, what a terrible experience. But, since you still have the root systems, I'm almost difinite all your lovely plants will return to you, bigger, and brighter than ever!!

Becky, "eyes" is right, your plants will return better than ever! Keep them well watered, any you'll be amazed. Still, someone else to do the lawn sounds like a good idea. Take care! John

My first thought was "small claims court", but I think waiting and watching is a much better idea.

BJT, I can idenify with you! I got home last Monday to find that this broad & her helper had run a muck again in my back yard! First, I know she is the one that rides her riding lawnmower. She drove that thing over a white fence I had put up to protect my Skyflower vines & threw grass clippings on all my 1gal pots in the back of the yard. Then, as if I wasn't already steaming, I went to re-route my Skyflower vines up my arch. The poor little thing came right off in my hands.
Roomy isn't home on Monday nites but I laid into him Tues nite. After serious words, he told me to get rid of some of my flowers. I promptly told him to HOLD HIS BREATH!
Can't wait to find my house. I have my own riding lawnmower already & I have sense enough to know not to use a weedeater next to fences & vines!

I'm so sorry Smockette I do know exactly how you feel, I wanted to report him to the BBB, but they are just a father and son team. Not much recourse there, unless I ask the IRS if they're reporting their "side" income from the business. No remorse at all. I'm still steaming over it I hardly go in the back garden any more I don't want to look at the damage they caused it hurts too much.

If you do contact the BBB about them, they may unearth the fact that they're not reporting (if that's the case).

Man, that SUCKS, Becky. No other word sums it up. But these guys are right- things will bounce back if you keep them well-watered. For 2 years we mowed over a bed of phlox and some spring flowering bulbs, not knowing they were even there, LOL. They'd probably been mowed over for a year or two before THAT, by whoever took care of the yard while this house was vacant. We just mowed what had been mowed all along.

Anyway, once we quit mowing them last spring, everything popped up and is doing great. ":o)

BJT, some people just have all the luck, don't they? lol
