I was scanning the International Trading forum, and saw a thread where folks were introducing themselves, and where they were from. And I thought that seemed an odd thing to do, considering my information is listed under my name. But then when I went to the preferences page to see what fields were there, it dawned on me that this information is US-centric, and isn't easily adapted to members from other countries.

Perhaps we could add a field for country to help us all identify where our fellow DG members are from?

And if there are other fields that would help, (or even renaming the current fields to be more global), maybe some of the international members can speak up about how they describe their location - if not city, state, county and zip code, then how do you describe your information? For instance, should we call the ZIP code field "ZIP/Postal Code" instead?

DG is becoming a bigger and better place every day, and I appreciate Dave and Trish for all the things they've done to bring gardeners from around the world together. As my kid would say, How cool is THAT!?!!?!

Good stuff. Regarding the country, I've seen lots of int'l folks put their country in the "State" field. This results in something that looks like this:

"Nurnberg, Germany".

I think I'll change the wording of "State" to "State or Country". How does that sound?

Regarding the zip code, I really should just remove that alltogether, since it's NEVER shown. There's no reason for us to have that in our preferences anyway.

Thoughts?
