Tree Seeds EVERYWHERE.You Too?

Plymouth, MI(Zone 6a)

I have lived in this house for 25 years and have NEVER had such a mess. First it was the Locust trees. We finally closed our pond because it was plugging up so bad. There were at least a hundred billion seeds...NO, I am not exaggrerting!!!Now I am waiting for the Maples to shed theirs. What in the heck causes such an increase? Anyone else having problems??

Do you have cicadas? Is it possible that little critters are biting the seeds off to drop to the ground?

Sledder, No....These are just seeds we get on the trees that fall every year. It is just that there are a BILLION more this year for some reason.
Marclay, I have never done seeds before but can if you want to email your address.
I just got back in again from trying to clean some up. They are tiny little guys but we have gotten bags of them! Now that the seeds have fallen we are getting the stems they were on.

Our pecan trees are loaded this year with nuts, of course that means that the green dangly thingies (flowers??) have fallen and have created a huge mess underneath.
The old-timers say that when the trees are loaded, expect a big hurricane. Funny tho, they also say when the crop is sparse it was the season just like camille. go figure
