Let's get listed in the Farmer's Almanac

Just got my copy of the Farmer's Almanac Gardener's Companion today. It's a great issue this month (their best yet, in my opinion) filled with all kinds of timely and complete articles.

They have a list of "Plant Resources" on pages 136 and 137 that lists the website addresses of various websites to find gardening information online. Sadly, the list is poorly done and, even more sadly, Dave's Garden is not listed.

I sent them a nice short note at this page: http://www.almanac.com/feedback.html to let them know about DG and to ask them to check it out and consider it for inclusion in their next issue.

If a couple of our members do the same thing, we just might have get listed!

Hi Dave,

I just sent them a note. I hope it helps! I read the Garden Companion at work on my break. It's so nice the store provides that "library" of magazines for us to read on break! LOL!

I sent them a note, too.
Best wishes!

Hey, Folks... Do you really want to do this? One of the things I love about Dave's Garden is the feeling of frendliness and a gardening family. I cannot imagine that feeling existing if there were 20,000-30,000 members!

darius: That's what we said when we only had 30 members.

Each and every member is valuable. Back when we had 200 members I thought we had enough. But then we suddenly had this huge influx of newbies. These newbies became our friends, like you, Bud, Pete2, Lisa, quynh, Heidi, Brook, melody, and far too many others to try to mention here.

We're creating the kind of atmosphere here that folks of a like mind (like us) want to stay and the unfriendly folks tend to disappear quietly.

I say let's get to 20,000 as fast as possible! We'll welcome them with open arms.

Yes! There is room for friends in the garden ! Had Dave cut it off when there were 200 or a 1000 even I would not be enjoying all the wonderful people here now! The more people there are the more friends we can make. And I for one never felt one could have too many friends. Sending a note to Farmers almanac now !!!

I am amazed at how quickly I've been able to become part of this community. It's really different from the others out there. I sent a glowing recommendation of DG to the Almanac folks. This site is a real blessing and I know it's in good hands with you guys!! :o)

Dave, Trish, and All, you are absolutely correct. If you had cut it off at 200,or 1000, I wouldn't have this opportunity join in, to know you, and to learn more! Hope you are successful with the Almanac! -darius

Ditto for me, Darius - I joined in January, and would have been way too late if Dave had cut off the membership at 200.

I just sent them an e-mail Dave. Hope we make it!

Troy, VA(Zone 7a)

I heartily agree with everything that has been said, except the cut-off. Glad that didn't happen - I wouldn't be here now. But I do understand where Darius' is coming from :-) My recommendation is on it's way to the Almanac.

I would like to welcome the world! There is so much good in the world too! The site has a different atmosphere, and Dave and Trish seem to know how to handle what has come along just fine.Ill go recommend DG . Right now.
You know it reminds me of the , Gunfighters Group, ( we do a wild west show up in Pioneertown Ca.)
I asked for a poster to put up in the windows, to tell when we will start up again.( we already did start) I asked for this a year ago. After being stalled , all this time. I get and answer, from one of our ladies in charge. She said I dont know if we are good enough, for great audiences! What??!!!
We are getting crowds of up to 200 now!200 or 2000 what is the difference?!
We have been doing this for 3 years now.Every Sunday 2:30 after church. April - Nov. The show.
Anyway simular situation.
Dont worry , I think our interests are too specific , to keep any weirdos, interested for long.Like Dave said.

I just found Dave's Garden yesterday and I am VERY glad there is no limit to the number of people that can join! And I am even MORE glad to be able to join such a great community to expand my knowledge and share the little I have. I am definitely recommending this site to all my gardening friends. The tone of a site is definitely affected by the membership but it seems that Dave has established a friendly, open site which encourages the best from everyone who participates. Rah, Dave!
