My Job Update .

Victoria, TX(Zone 9b)

I will post quickly before Sledder (aka Mom) explodes. :)

I am happy to report I received a job offer from the company I interviewed at in Greenville, SC. The salary is above and beyond what I expected, with full relocation (even the packing), a bonus to get me settled in, and all the bells and whistles. I am to make my decision by the end of this week, but I think it's already made (*grin*). I was the first choice of the four interviewed, and the entire package their company offers is just outstanding. Full benefits, holidays, vacation (starting 01-03), and an amazing work environment. I am to start the position Sept 1, which gives me ample time to finish my thesis, oral defense, and even some edits after the fact. (It even allows me to move without flying like a whirlwind :) ).

I, along with family and close friends, have been praying for this position, as it has been the best all-around of where I've interviewed with so far. Our prayers have been answered. God is generously rewarding my 6 hard years spent in college, and I'm very grateful.

YAHOOO!!:) *Jennifer does the boogity happy dance* Doo dee doo deee doo dee doo... :) Happy day Happy day :)

Hi, Jen -

Your mom was talking about your new job in chat Tuesday night, but I forgot to look up this thread and congratulate ya.

Congrats!!

Victoria, TX(Zone 9b)

Thanks big sis......

thank you gw .....

It's soo nice to not have to pack. The company I'm going to be working for hires a moving company, so all I have to do is get my personal items (and plants) out of their way, and stand back and watch while they load up. I get to plan an apartment hunting trip, and try to organize some dates, but it isn't too bad so far.

Sounds like a dream come true! Congrats!

Uh oh, I need to tell you about a time when I had the movers pack things. I had always thought that was the real first class way to do things, and finally was going to a situation that was partially funded by IBM, so they were picking up the tab for the move. While we were overseeing the loading, one of the kids got hungry and decided to make a peanut butter sandwich. He or she set the jar on the cabinet and left it. When I unpacked things later, I came across a box containing: the kitchen trash, all safely wrapped in miles of paper, some used paper plates with their leftovers carefully entombed in more paper, and the peanut butter jar, sans lid, with the knife still standing upright in it, wrapped in the same protective paper.

Just dropped in to say congratulations on your new job!

Jesteburg-Wiedenhof, Germany(Zone 8a)

Congrats all the way from here Jennifer!!!
It's great not to have to pack, but heed Aimée's warning.... get everything out of the way before the people come to pack-and-carry your stuff away, or you may end up with some strange wee surprises when you get to your new place.

Well done Lassie!!! (not the dog)

*giggles* weeks - old pb&j -- ewwwwwwww!!! Definitely something to keep in mind. Amazing that it didn't occur to the packing and moving fellows that perhaps peanut butter lids are best kept on - you would think that would've triggered something in his mind to ask "ma'am, are we packing it up this way?".....*grin*

I spent tonight starting basic weekly cleaning, and decided to organize the computer desk and the book shelf. What a task! Deciding what's not worth having the movers hassle with, and what's really important to me. sheeeeeesh. Left on the "keep or pitch" list is still the bathroom and bedroom, perhaps to get done another weekend.

Well, cleaning for movers sure beats studying for a hard exam, or writing a long boring paper. :)

Thanks all,
-Jennifer

WTG Jennifer!

A tip for moving? I kept a box or two for the stuff I knew I wanted to be able to find immediatley after the move. One box had all my important papers, address books, a phone to plug in. Basically the stuff at your desk. The other box had basic household stuff...Coffee pot, paper plates, toiletries and some towels. Sort of like packing for a weekend away incase your belongings don't end up where you expect them to on time;)

HTH and Congats!
Sue

Very very happy for you Jen. :} ((((HUGS))))
Congratulations on the new job
