like both requests.
What about just for birds? Or is that too involved?
Or weeds I.D. lolol

you can use the Garden Foes for weed id, and wildlife for birds.

can;t say I ever noticed either one of these 2 . Not that I recall. Thanks

that's the only reason I mentioned them, some people subscribe in the beginning to a certain number of forums and don't realize they are all there. If you did know, sorry :)

A butterfly hummingbird gardening forum would be great! I don't know if I would be in there all the time, but it's sure something that interests me so I would definitely use it. I love butterflies! And Kenny loves hummingbirds ~ since he's the Chief Digger and Garden Bed Maker I like to keep him happy by planting stuff to bring them in ~ keeps him outside more near the shovel. ;-)

I wonder if there is another one or two subjects that are close enough to it to combine with it to make it guaranteed to be worth a whole new forum? Something like Cottage Gardening or Beneficial Insects (just Beneficials, maybe) or ... ? Or maybe there will be enough people to chime in that it can stand alone ... I hope.

BTW, I for one don't mind someone pointing out to me a forum that's already here. I missed the Vegetable Gardening forum for two whole weeks because I didn't think to check! I've gotta' start hitting that "Update Forum Preferences" link every so often to check for new ones!

Special focus gardens would cover all of the above mentioned and more for a long time. I think birds, hummingbirds and butterflies all end up in the same garden. There are flowers with nectar (hummers and butterflies), flowers that make seeds (many birds), and places for nests in things like privet, ligustrum, althea and vitex, all in a small section of my garden. The honeysuckle, sage (several kinds), oleander, viburnum, pecan, oak, mountain laurel, two types of elm, hackberry, china berry, mulberry, Eve's necklace, roses, larkspur, pavonia, poke weed, rosemary and others all provide something for these lovely visitors. The University of Texas has a place devoted to them, and you can get a lot of ideas of what to grow from there. I would like to see such ideas in a special focus garden forum here, too.

Maybe gardening for wildlife?
Oooooh, and movies? ;)

I thought it would be interesting to have one central place for us to go so that we could discuss hummers and butterflys, wether it be plants, cat ids, spottings, etc.
I do visit the wildlife forum, and do enjoy it, but thought that a specific garden forum would be a great place to share our findings, etc. There is just "something" about trying to attract and keep hummers in the garden. Definately a challenge.
I can go to the wildlife forum and learn about birds and animals in general, but think that if there was a garden specific forum, it would allow us to share ideas about 2 specific friends, without having to surf through all other bird and wildlife info(already a forum for it).
If dave cant accomodate a forum for them, i underrstand. just thought it would be a great idea.

I think it's a great idea too, because i adore my hummers. I can only get them to come to one of my feeders though. any help I could get would be great!
