Good luck on the upgrade!

Congratulations! Seems to be running smoothly again! I got a good nap, I know you didn't.

I'm actually still here at the ISP and posting this manually (I'm not using a web browser).

I guess since people are posting and such that it's working fine. I'm going to drive home now (45 minute drive) and then check in and see how it looks. We shouldn't have any trouble getting the chat up and running at 7pm either.

If you see anything odd (and there must be some problems...) post it here.

So far, so good at 4:25pm. I've made several posts and all seems okay thus far. Your poor e-mail box will be full of panic-stricken e-mails from people like me, I'm afraid. *blush* - didn't know about the upgrade!

All seems fine, and enjoyed chat last night(to me)
However this morning no newsletter, i've usually got it by now. Minor inconvenience, but you asked us to let you know if anything different happened

dave, the site seems to be flying this morning!!

It should - it was quite an upgrade! We moved to a hard drive twice as big, thrice as fast, and the operating system is upgraded from Red Hat 6.2 to Red Hat 7.2.

Also in the upgrade was upgrading Apache and PHP to the latest versions, as well as moving MySQL to 3.23.49a. That's a big jump up and you can feel the difference, in my opinion.

Oh, before because of limitations on Red Hat 6, only 900 megs of our memory was usable. Now, with Red Hat 7, all 1,000 megs (1 gig) of our memory is being used.

I feel like I'm back on my cable modem! really happy here Dave, thank you so much

Is it my imagination, or are some of the fonts different now?

Kathy, it's not your imagination. I changed all the fonts from Arial (a Windows font) to Helvetica (a more cross platform font). Does it look okay on your computer?

I'm actually thinking about making fonts and colors a configurable option... one day.

Dave, Some of the smaller fonts are a little fuzzy (but that might be my failing eyesight LOL. The big sizes are more readable now. Was I the first to notice? Do I get a prize LOL?

The smaller fonts are actually italicized, which remain as Arial.

the larger fonts, formerly Arial, are now Helvetica. I find Helvetica a very easy-on-the-eyes font, which Arial can be quite harsh sometimes (especially in my Linux-based browsers).

I stuck with Arial on the italics, however, because Helvetica renders italics quite poorly on Linux.

(no prizes for being first, alas) :)
