I'm going there for work in 2 weeks and the plane ticket is a direct flight/round trip...and the price is only $312! That's cheap cheap cheap. Wow.
Going to Eugene, OR
We have family there, HC!
It's a beautiful area...you'll love the scenery.
Have a good trip! :-)
I've been to Salem twice before, but not that far south. I'll be interested in seeing the area. Not too interested in flying though!...lol
hczone, you'll be in my neck of the woods...
Eugene is a nice college town.
you will be there right around graduation time, it should be fun!
Isn't Grannylois going to be in Oregon about then too? Jo
Yes, I'll be in Corvallis, Oregon (about 48 miles directly north of Eugene) from June 12-15, then Portland and the ocean until we return on June 18.
HC, are you flying into Portland? If so, when? We'll get there on the 12th about 4 p.m. My ticket (round trip) was $311, a lot less than they advertise.
One thing you have to see while you're there is Crater Lake. http://www.nps.gov/crla/ It is one of the most beautiful sites I've ever seen. There might even be snow there yet. I saw it in April one year and it was surrounded by snow - clearest, bluest water in the world!

I'll be arriving in Portland on June 20. I would have went all the way to Eugene on the flight, but I need to stop in Beaverton (near Portland) on the way back. I don't think I'll have a lot of time to going sight seeing while I'm there. I have a phone system/voice mail to install with about 48 phones and 24 modems. I'll then have to train everyone on the use of the new system. If everything goes well, I might be able to get 1 day to go looking around. Nothing like driving all over the place while the company is paying for the rental car :D
Hzone, sounds like you will have your work cut out for you.
have fun
I hope to have Sunday free. I think that's very possible. I'll have to see what's in the area to see...I'll be taking my digital camera. I'm having the company ship my tools to our office in OR so I don't have to fool with that at the airport...and I worry about the safety of my tools. It's about $1000 or more of phone related tools and I don't really trust the baggage handlers with that :( Plus, there's always the security hassle with stuff like that. Funny thing when I think back about 2 years ago when I traveled for work and took a bag of tools AS CARRY ON BAGGAGE! I had utility knives, drywall saw, screwdrivers, etc. It's amazing how much the security has changed. The guy a few years ago looked at my utility knife and saw (very pointy...looks like a strange looking large knife with teeth) and gave me a look and said "hmmmm". I told him what I did for a living and what it was for and he let me go on with it.

Here's a site about one of the great gardens in Eugene. Just in case you have a little spare time. Very beautiful!!!
