news letter photos

Sharpsville, PA(Zone 5a)

Was wondering at what time do you stop looking at the photos to pick photo of the day. noticed that there are always brugs listed.

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

LOL, I know...Lots of brugs...'Course my DH was a POD once, so they're not all brugs.

Jacksonville, TX(Zone 8b)

The photo of the day is chosen from the previous 24 hour period. I was the photo of the day too (was really hoping that didn't happen), so GW is right- it isn't _always_ brugs :)

Trish

Sharpsville, PA(Zone 5a)

no, not always. but about once a week. Nothing against brugs. I have one on my kitchen counter.

Sharpsville, PA(Zone 5a)

oh! more brugs. 2 days back to back

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

mimi, it is almost always the busiest forum besides general. we just have a lot of brug pictures, so it increases our chances:)

Sharpsville, PA(Zone 5a)

in the daily newsletter? I thought photos were taken from the photo section. What ever. I just didn;t think there was such a huge interest in brugs. I had never heard of them till I was on Dg. Seems like they are everywhere on here.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

I think Dave looks at any photo posted no matter what forum.

Rapid City, SD(Zone 5b)

I could look at the Brugs every day - there are never too many for me!

Sharpsville, PA(Zone 5a)

i just was given 2 photos of my friends neighbors brug. I forgot it at work. Will have to post.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I love brugs.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I love em too and Mimi, you should get yours outside if you want to see it bloom this year. Into a big pot and lots of fertilizer. Our growing time is so short in zone 5. You will fall in love with this plant. I have about 50 different ones and I know others have more than I do. The fragrance will knock you over in the evening.

Sharpsville, PA(Zone 5a)

the sun won;t hurt its leaves huh???? I can just stick it right out there>

Sharpsville, PA(Zone 5a)

looks like its a brugs week! or MONTH even!lol

High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

MM... before u move ur brug outside u need to harden them first or they will get sunburned. gradually take it outside before exposing to complete sunlight.

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

LOL, Dave's Garden: All Brugs, All the Time. ;)

Sharpsville, PA(Zone 5a)

Garden wife! you are so correct!
MaVie Rose. GOod thing you told me. I would of killed it! Better bring it to a different spot than where I was gonna do it. Thanks for catching this. Will start it off in Morning sun first.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Mimi, if you decide to try more varieties, just go to the Brug Forum and let us know!!!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Mimi, I put mine under a shade tree for about three days before introducing them to the sun. Then morning sun for a while and then they can take it all, especially in our zone. Now, if it is going to be a hundred degrees in the shade, I'd probably place it someplace where it would get some shade in the really hot part of the day, if I could. I'm probably in trouble this year, because most of mine are in total sun. Will have to hope they adjust to it.

Sharpsville, PA(Zone 5a)

oh/ okay. Its dark out now. but. maybe I should go move it anyways. I would hate to kill it after I raised it from a seed. plus. Who knows! maybe it will make the newsletter!!!

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

Uh Oh! That might explain why mine are unhappy. I moved them in their huge pots onto the deck, and they look a little depressed. Okay, a lot depressed. It's been overcast and rainy here so I didn't think they would mind, but I'll move them to a more shady area in the morning.

Thanks for the heads up on this. I didn't realize what they were trying to tell me.

Sharpsville, PA(Zone 5a)

gardenwife! did you see todays?

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

yeah, but it's brugs again ;)

Sharpsville, PA(Zone 5a)

DId you see that sunset that was posted in the photos? now THAT was a real winner! WOW!

Salem, OR(Zone 8a)

I am afraid I am one of those who, until DG, had never heard of Brugs. I am still not too sure. My friend said when she lived in Florida, they were all over the place, and some young people got the idea that they would get high off them, and died trying!!! Is that a truth or an urban legend?

Sharpsville, PA(Zone 5a)

only TWO persons I have talked to has ever heard of brugs. Only because her neighbor had them. And where the other person worked. they had one. They sure have a strong showing in the newsletter. Don;t know......They have some attraction for alot of people I guess. Not in Zone 5. The don;t even sell them at greenhouses here. They look at you like you are nuts if you ask anywhere around me with in a 50 mile area. I know. I have tried!!!!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I'm in zone 5 and have around 50 different varities of brugs. I know people in Michigan and Wisconsin who also grow them and they do sell them in greenhouses in Michigan. A lot of people in Canada raise them too. I think once you see them in bloom (in person) and smell the fragrance at night, you will love them. I hope yours does well Mimi. Like Cala said, come to the brug forum. We usually have lots of them to share. I'll sure share this fall when mine are ready to cut back.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

I think all the brug pictures that have been chosen were real winners too. They are a gorgeous flower and photograph very well. I love sunsets too, but always prefer flower pictures over anything else. Must be something about brugs, it's still always one of the top 5 forums. Everyone has their favorite flower, we just love ours very much :)

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

Add me to the list of gardeners who heard of brugs later in life. But plumeria and datura were also new to me, until I discovered I knew them by other names. My sister in La. still gathers jimson weed seed, and my mother still admonishes her because they are poisonous and a pesky weed in Mississippi and Louisiana. These are some of the Eliza Doolittles of the flower world.

Dayton, OH(Zone 5a)

How 'bout some wildlife photos?

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

Every day I look for photos of gardens and landscaping projects. Those are my favorites as they inspire me and give me ideas for mine when my mind goes stagnant. (Which happens alot! :)

Austin, TX(Zone 8a)

I had never heard of brugs either until I came to DG. I'm almost afraid to get one given the passion they seem to inspire.

Dayton, OH(Zone 5a)

Joan, I know what you mean. There's so much to see here and everyone has so many great ideas! I've spent some time looking through many journals. You've probably done the same, but sometimes when the site is lightening fast, I'll go visit journals to see what others are doing. It's really just amazing to me!

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

Me too Morph. I have learned so much about gardening here, and I know I still have so much more to learn. I love seeing pictures of what others have done. I have looked at lots of journals too. I don't have the most creative mind in the world and cannot come up with ideas on my own. So, I steal them, er, borrow them! LOL!
