snogging

Antrim, Northern Ire, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

hi all

one of our TV chat hosts, Graham Norton, always does funny things on his show like phone weird people or #1 fans of certain celebs while they are in the studio. the whole thing goes out live every night

last night he phoned a bar in the US and said he was bringing along his girlfriend. He asked the tender if the bar policy allowed snogging. The tender hadnt a clue so went and got someone else.

surely people know what snogging is?

Had never heard of it before, also had to go to the Hyperlink to look it up. Now I do. Don't recommend it in public.

Anybody ever been "snipe hunting"?

my warped can think of a possibility other that shooting snipe which are so difficult to shoot i have never succeeded

Wapakoneta, OH(Zone 5b)

Mark...You don't shoot snipe, you hit them over the head with a stick and and put them in a bag.

The idea of Graham Norton and a girlfriend is bad enough LOL.

I had never heard of it either but thanks to Amari's link I am now better informed! That link is now on my favorites list. At last a place that can translate English into English!

Snogging is a typical English word for what we from the West of Scotland call winching, which of course, comes from wench(ing). Kissing and cuddling :-X

Romantically yours

What do you lot in america get up to while we're busy snogging in the UK?
Necking? Pashing?

i agree with you on the Graham Norton thing Baa - Eeeeyuuuck!!!!!

Sounds as if snipe hunting has a lot in common with caveman tactics ROBBOB. Very politically incorrect LOL. Still, as Mark says, you have to catch them first!

Sigh! I just love reading about overtures, which must be a contraction for "over to your(s) place".

Anyone heard of "Submarine Races?" That was going on at the beach when I was young. ;)

Wapakoneta, OH(Zone 5b)

Baa..From what I read of the definition of snogging, a little snog is great, in public, but let's not get carried away.

Snipe hunting is when you take some poor unsuspecting soul out into the woods at night, give them a bag and a stick and tell them to stay there and the rest of you will chase the snipe to them and all they have to do is to pop them little critters and put them in the bag. Then you go off and wait to see how long it takes the poor innocent to figure out he has been had.

penny4..I have heard of submarine races but don't remember what they are. Maybe my DH does.

In my parents day it was called Spooning, when I was young it was Making out, now my romantic children call it Sucking face...Sounds so inviting doesn't it!

Robbob, I grew up in the late 60s on the Oregon coast, so "watching the submarine races" meant you were sitting on the beach(you could drive on it then)in your car with your best gal or guy, making out. Submarines are generally underwater, so if they raced, the idea went, you wouldn't see them anyway! Just an excuse to sit on the beach, watch the sun set and kiss, spoon, neck, make out, or suck face. :-/ So at high school the next day, when your best pal asked what you did the night before, you might answer: "watched the submarine races with Bill!" Amazingly, parents didn't get it at the time!! It's an old one so I imagine many of the sub race watchers are parents now themselves. Maybe because of watching submarine races..;)
