You won't believe this

Grand Prairie, TX

Went to MILs this weekend. she's got a typical garden, for the most part, even a bird feeder or two.
well she has a pond with some bright red and orange fish in it. She has a cardinal that visits...the same cardinal everyday. This cardinal-HE- I might add, everyday, digs in the ground, gets worms and such..... keeps them in his mouth and goes to the edge of the pond where the fish all scurry to the surface and the bird will feed them all with his mouth!! no kidding! she even has video of it. next time i am there will take digital camera and get a pic to post on here. i have never seen such a thing.

That is wild. I think you should win a bunch of money on some tv show, maybe America's Funniest Videos, if you capture this. You have to wonder what this bird is thinking.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

That would be something to see!! Wonder if he's confused and thinks they are his babies?

Villa Rica, GA(Zone 7a)

Now that I think about it...I have never seen a Red bird eating worms! only seen them on the feeders, didn't even know they liked worms?!! I thought they were like seed/berry kinda birds LOL that is what I get for thinking huh?!! LOL

Well, I just don't know what to say.... this has it all beat. I don't think they are even carniverous are they? I think I need to see the photo. I think an animal doctor of some sort should see it, too. WOW. Really nice. Makes a sweet photo in your mind, doesn't it?

Wow, CoCoSeed! I agree with Aimee that you should try to get it on tape if you can and go for the big bucks on AFHV! I'd bet the ranch they'd atleast air it! And I'd love to see a pic, too, if you can get one. That's just too amazing! LOLOL!

(BTW, I'm no expert, but I think that Cardinals prefer seeds and such, but do eat insects every now and again.)

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Well, cardinals do pass things like berries and other choice morsels to their mates with their beaks. It's funny, just last night on Animal Planet, they had a mallard duck who scooped food out of a bowl and waddled over to the pond's edge to feed the koi there. It was so funny to see! I don't doubt a cardinal would do likewise. Isn't it fun seeing species interact like that? :)
